Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
Hey Philtron, what path does pressing the Footswitch open? It's not obvious just looking at the map, and it doesn't seem like anything in the immediate area was affected. It opens a door directly north of the footswitch, but in a different area. You can see where by looking at the map. As ravenshin...

Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
You know I am that Forrest from the MSF, right? Ha, yeah I guess I did know that, I don't know why I wrote it the way I did. It was late at night and I was tired. And if you're not associated with the scenario then I doubt this has anything to do with you. The terminal in question just has a photo ...

Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
I don't know why I keep gnawing away at this scenario. Finally beat Hannah. My first playthrough I couldn't insert the spring icon into its insert slot for some reason; second playthrough I took a different route and managed to get through. The only thing I can think of is you're not supposed to go ...

The picture patrick posted is of Stanislaw Lem, the Polish science fiction writer whose book Solaris inspired Tarkovsky's Solaris (similarly, the click Catrikp clipped is from Tarkovsky's Stalker which was inspired by the book Roadside Picnic by Russian science fiction writers Boris & Arkady Str...

Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the scenario isn't finished. I still don't know how to beat Hannah, but I did figure out the Footswitch issue on Wingdings. Advice: Only press a switch ONCE. At least one switch (the one to the Footswitch door, the door up the snow stairs and to the left down a long hall) can b...

Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
Anyone get past Wholley Hannah? I am pretty certain that it's glitched out and I won't be able to beat it. I got the Spring Icon and some other pickup, but I can't insert the Icon into its underwater slot. Can't break the Xontrol access panel. I am able to access and break Xontrol switch #1, but can...

Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
1) Where did the pilfered Spring Icon get off to? I don't think it appears in this level, if I remember correctly.[/quote] 2) By what method am I expected to go outside and talk with AIN? Haven't been back to the area with lots of white marble(?) yet, but maybe pressing a switch on the upper levels...

Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
I just beat Casualties of the Wingding Zone, and it was a real pain, lots of obnoxiousness in this one. If anyone needs help with that level let me know. Although I'm still not 100% certain how I managed to open the door to the Foot Switch. Possibly by jumping over/into a pool of slime? Doesn't help...

Re: Who the hell is responsible for this scenario??
It's an interesting scenario for sure. I've just gotten past the level with the trees. I think there's some really high points, but some really low points too. I get the feeling that it's not 100% finished, but the creator just figured it was close enough. I don't know if I'll finish playing it; the...

Re: Marathon 1 Redux
Here's another post where people discuss glue triggers:
http://pfhorums.com/viewtopic.php?f=24& ... 591#p71591
It's from 2015 but it seems that the Glue, Superglue, and Glue Triggers don't actually work unless you create some script for them. But maybe that has changed since.

Re: Marathon 1 Redux
Philtron, my understanding is that Visible/Invisible/Dual Monster Triggers can cross one Zone Border but not two, whereas Glue Triggers can not cross a single Superglue polygon. I am not sure how or whether the M1 and M2 polygons interact with each other... I've tried and completely reconstructing ...

Re: Marathon 1 Redux
If I'm reading this correctly and the dark blue squares are Zone Borders then these are blocking any signals from triggers. So, the BoB not activating until you hit the Trigger in the hallway is correct; the zone border between the airlock and the BoB should be removed. However, if I'm reading this ...

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that. The Staff projectile especially seems to have an unusually high knock back. Does anyone know which damage types affect knockback in what ways?

Re: Marathon Chronicles
(I don’t know if this was intentional on Bungie’s part; as I understand it, any projectile that deals an odd number of damage is considered an alien projectile, while anything that deals an even number of damage is considered, for lack of a suitable antonym, not-alien I've never heard of this. And ...

Re: I will play every level in Marathon and comment on them
(3) Make the lookers sneakier. Add air vents and crevices for them to crawl out of after the player thinks a room is clear. Make them drop on his head from the ceiling. This is a decent idea. Having vents on the ground/near the ceiling that hold Lookers would be a good way to shift the tone and sty...

Re: I will play every level in Marathon and comment on them
It also makes for something that's kind of unique in the Marathon trilogy: allowing the player to directly interact with other characters/enemies in a meaningful way without using a gun. This is a biiiiiiiiiiiit of an exaggeration. You're still just mercing the guy. I don't think "squashing a ...

Re: I will play every level in Marathon and comment on them
Over the last year I've been able to get a handful of Doom fans to check out Marathon. A common point of confusion I often heard afterwards is that they never encountered the cybernetic Pfhor and they didn't really understand what was going on too well in the end levels. I would have to explain tha...

Pfhorrest is correct. This happens in Forge on a certain texture set, although I think it might have been the water texture set maybe.

Re: SPOILERS M1R Story Development Thread
I've always felt that M1 was pretty heavily influenced by (among other things) the late 80's manga style when it came to some aspects of character art (especially pose and movement). I'm pretty sure they mentioned this in an interview when talking about Reg Dojour's work on the game. This is true. ...

Re: Marathon 1 Redux
My point with the light is that you get to it after you've already "finished" that room. You've already killed the enemies and probably picked up the AR. So, it feels pointless to me because changing the light doesn't change anything about the player's experience. The other lights you ment...

Re: Marathon 1 Redux
I replayed the mod to get a better idea on things. Sound in vacuum is okay. Some sounds are just a lot quiter than others so I didn't hear them without headphones. I played around some more with the alien weapons to get a feel for them. I didn't notice before that the ranged attack on the Staff is a...
