A combination of bug-eyes and Batman.

By quoting dugit, however, you create the false impression that your post has got something to do with his. Definitely, it's doing alright for a 10 year thing. However, the scope of the game suggests it should be a classic, and I don't know if the actual game itself is a classic. It may only be doi...

Having played some more of the game, I am super impressed. The attention to detail and the careful map design are both really excellent. I remember a moment early on when you first land on Artemis where a huge swarm of enemies and allies all popped in from all directions. Really got the blood pumpin...

That's true, it's probably fine to just map.
Sometimes I'll have an idea for an area, and make that part of the map first, using up way too many polys. That sort of happened to me on Gated Community, where the starting area is high detail, and I hit nearly 60 before I started the actual map.

Make a small map with big polys. Than add detail. The way I've been doing it is to make an open area with about 30 or so polys, and then add stuff until I get to 90ish. The weird thing is, both I've done so far hit 100 exactly, but that can likely be chalked up to balanced or even symmetrical maps.

And Thermo, Traxus is beautiful, but kind of sparse. I've thought about editing something myself, but it always loads so slowly, or not at all.

I was thinking about how cool it would be to have only small arms, for a variety of situations. Shotguns for one strong enemy close up. Sub machine guns for multiple enemies close up. Assault rifles for medium range against a variety of enemies. Long rifles for long range power. Hand grenades for ta...

The diff'rent ammo for diff'rent levels concept is not a bad one, but it could get super confusing. Make sure the player always knows exactly what kind of bullets they're loaded with.
