So you’re saying that’s what the energy converter thing in Habe Quiddam was for? Never thought of that. Sorry I’ll not disturb this forum with such questions again.

“Your suit has been modified”
In the first terminal in M2 Durandal says:
“Your suit has been modified to recharge at Pfhor power stations and to use Pfhor uplink terminals to upload yourself into a pattern buffer on my ship”.
But didn’t the SO’s suit already work with the rechargers and pattern buffers on the Pfhor ship in M1?

Re: EVIL and Rubicon X Reviews
Good comprehensive review. The one thing I'd say is that, having played Rubicon many times (never using the Eat The Path plugin), I never would have considered any of the maps to be "hellmazes", and that's certainly not something I'd have identified as a drawback of the scenario. I'd never...

Re: EVIL Review
I loved EVIL, probably my favourite third party scenario after Rubicon. That is despite its many flaws as you mention. I totally agree about the narrative ending, particularly how the text in the final terminal inexplicably switches to the third person to describe what happens to the player afterwar...

Slow/jumpy cursor in main menu (Windows 7)
Hi I'm trying to play the latest version of AlephOne in Windows 7 (I've generally played it on Macs in the past). I have found that the cursor is very slow and jumpy while in the main menu (regardless of the scenario loaded), to the point that it is difficult to navigate the menu and click any optio...

Ah yes, it does make a lot more sense when read in the context of the preceding parts of the terminal around Tycho’s ship on Lh’owon’s inne moon. Never mind me...

Where is Fatum Iustum Stultorum?
No doubt I’m missing something obvious so apologies if this is a stupid question. On the last terminal in Fatum Iustum Stultorum, Durandal says “The Pfhor down on the planet are not defeated yet.” I always assumed this level took place on the planet (Lh’owon), but this suggests not. If not, where do...

Re: A fourth Marathon??
Any kind of official sequel or reboot would be cool. But my personal gaming fantasy - the game that if I had unlimited money I would buy a game developer (in this case Bungie) to make for me, but which in reality is never going to happen - would be some kind of sandbox/open world first person RPG (a...

Re: The Marathon
Hey guys! Doing a redesign project based on the original trilogy, tackling the enemies, weapons, the player, bobs, the ships, etc... Was wondering if any of you had thoughts on the Marathon's exterior shape itself. Being fashioned from Deimos, I do want it to have a somewhat organic shape to it, bu...

Uses the same elevator sound as Marathon. Those must be some damn old stock audio files.

Thanks for the replies all.
Do you not find that windowed mode makes the game less 'immersive' though, and detracts from the experience a bit?

My monitor is too big to play Marathon on
Well, the monitors of both my machines (27" iMac and 29" for my PC) are so big that all the Marathon games look crap on them at native resolution (with the exception of possibly Rubicon X which still looks pretty good). The obvious solution would be to reduce the screen size within the gam...

Re: Marathon Phoenix video commentary
Ryoko - These videos inspired me to do another run through of Phoenix, but I'm trying to complete each level before I watch its commentary video, because it's been about 3 years since I last played Phoenix and I'm enjoying take it all in again fresh. My question though: I see that you have The Face ...

Re: Marathon Phoenix video commentary
Not really. You didn't define a let's play properly. Under your definition, first impressions videos and game reviews would be let's plays. But, these sorts of videos are /not/ let's plays. There are certain specific qualities that let's plays have that are not fulfilled under first impressions. A ...

Re: "Rubicon Secrets Guide" / Rozinante X secret areas
Thanks. I actually managed to find it anyway. In the unlikely event anybody is interested, you get to it by heading up to the second floor area of the Rozinante (near that room that looks sort of like HAL's memory banks in 2001), hit a panel in the wall to reveal hidden wires which you smash to open...

"Rubicon Secrets Guide" / Rozinante X secret areas
Hi, I'm replaying Rubicon and reading Steve Levinson's Volunteers series along with it. On Rozinante X (the last Rozinante on the Pfhor plank) I can see into the room with the 3x recharger and invincibility power up etc but haven't been able to get into it. I did some exploring and managed to find w...

Re: AlephOne crashing an awful lot on new machine
Cheers for the replies - relieved to hear this is a common problem and not just something to do with my machine. Have you tried it in both fullscreen and windowed mode? You may get better results in one over the other. I hadn't tried this (never actually played in windowed mode before). Just gave it...

AlephOne crashing an awful lot on new machine
Hi Strange one. Never had any trouble playing AlephOne with any scenario on any of my old computers. But I am now trying to play Rubicon X on my new computer (which is an iMac, 2.7GHz Intel Core i5 with 4GB ddr3 memory and an AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB). It's a crap graphics card I know bt it is non...

Re: "The most notorious puzzle in Marathon"
In fact, I spent about 4 hours last night reading all the Tour of Duty entries until Naw Man He's Close (I stopped there because that's the level I'm at in my current playthrough). Have to say I thoroughly enjoy these posts. It's exactly the kind of commentary and analysis that I've been looking for...

Re: "The most notorious puzzle in Marathon"
Interesting thanks, makes sense, it just wasn't familiar with the context so was wondering if I was missing something.
I've taken a look at the Tour of Duty series, it's really good and I'll be sure to check it out in its entirety. Good stuff
