Gimp wouldn't be a problem if you didn't have click twice. I stand by my request that the UI elements positions' be customizable.

One of the things I really liked about PiD's interface was that you could move all the little bits around because they were separate windows. I'd try to preserve that if it isn't a ridiculous amount of work.

Here is my first UI design plan (Mockup) Of course, the OS window borders will be removed. Everything is in the game window, it's not all seperate. Any suggestions for modernisations? I might see if I can start getting some actual PiD textures Well, if you're looking for modernization you could add...

Aah. See, there's no disarming in marathon, but what I was thinking of each shot being a whole grenade clip, which netmaps and singleplayer alike are also stingy with. That would work. The thing to remember is that even if only one of the grenades hits, it will put the player on the receiving end a...

Something to keep in mind for balance is that Oni was very stingy with ammo, and that despite the scram cannon having five(?) shots, you would likely only get off one or two before someone ran up and disarmed you.

I've always liked the idea, if for no other reason than my maps are fugly anyway and I have a lot more fun focusing on the design.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been having trouble finding a good grass texture that Photoshop'll convert to 8bit BMP. I seem to recall having some trouble there because of the color tables: most of the reasonable looking colors end up getting converted to yellow ones. You should investigate forc...

I can't, I figure because sewage and waste disposal areas are as a boring in video games as they are in real life.
There was that one level in Marathon:Evil called Mr. Bill Meets Gumby.

Yeah I loved some of the lava levels on M2 actually, Feel the Noise and All Roads Lead to Sol, God Will Sort the Dead are all fantastic fun IMO. For some reason I just wasn't a big fan of the lava set in Infinity, and I guess I wasn't a huge fan of the sewage set in M2 for that matter. I also have ...

That's much better- the anorexic marine we know and love. :) This can be explained away by yelling "Low-G Adaptation" and running away. As for the pistol, the 2nd trigger guard is easy to explain. Basic firearm safety rules dictate that you don't put your finger within the trigger guard u...

Alpha can mean "the first or most significant occurrence of something," and saving the Vylae and ensuring thier vitory in thier war to protect thier homes and freedom. If the Pfhor were to enslave thier 15 planets and each's inhabidants, they would be unstopable. But if they won, Earth wo...

Oh, and the vertical slice at the bottom is part of the 3D model, not done in post-processing. If you look closely you'll notice it's reflected in the bottom of the central sphere. It just looks tacked on because it was made using a boolean difference function with a rectangular prism, and the came...

I feel like a lot of games use Alpha in the title. Is there some significance to 'alpha' or is it just a word that sounds cool? The title should be at least obtusely related to the content of the game.

Been lurking, thought I'd drop my $.02:
I think white is a bad ideal, because A) Several scenarios already use white icons, so it would cause confusion, and B) White isn't very far away from the silver/gray that Infinity uses. I definitely think we should stick with green.

I once volunteered to cut out and modify sprites for the monsters in this. It's alot of work. I have a folder full of the best screenshots possible, from every angle I could get.
