I have patched tim4i's old m1redux weapons plugin for the official Marathon. This plugin replaces the old weapon sprites with HD variants. Some textures have been refined even further from the original using GIMP to edit them. According to Tim4i, you should not unzip this file but I've found it works regardless. All credit goes to both tim4i & herecomethej2000s as this was their original work, I merely patched the file. The original licence restrictions still apply.

The original plugin can be found here
NOTES:
-You need OpenGL to run this pack.
-This plugin is for the official Marathon 1 (not M1A1).
-Does not include the redux items plugin (yet). Also Projectiles have been disabled/removed.
-I did NOT get permission from tim4i to create this patch. He hasn't been online since 2012 and left no means of contact. No copyright infringement intended.

Post any glitches/problems you find below.

UPDATE:
Version 2.1 Now Available!

After finding a few visual errors in the sprites and a few failed attempts to fix them using gimp, it has come to my realization that we need better HD weapon sprites. If anyone can provide me with better sprites I'd be very grateful.

Is this still incompatible with Marathon on Aleph One?

I think you're mistaken. M1A1 refers to the old engine builds (the one that most M1 plugins on Simplici7y were designed for) while M1 refers to the new builds. Long story short, M1A1 was a replica/remake of the original Marathon while the current M1 builds are based off the original Marathon code (hence why I refer to it as the "official M1"). This is also the reason why they're incompatible. Further details can be found in the Read Me file for this plugin. Sorry about the confusion, we (the community) should really post this info somewhere for new users.

Ah, excellent. Thanks for the clarification.

True, if this was laid out clearly for noob like me it would make a lot more sense.

Some constructive feedback.

The fists look great, though the black outline on them is not present on any other weapon.
The pistol is too blocky in comparison with the rest of the weapons.
The assault rifle is too blurred in comparison with the rest of the weapons.
The fusion pistol looks good.
Haven't come across the spanker yet.

Looking forward to the addition of the HD items, and perhaps altogether new weapon sprites in the future.

Thanks for the feedback. Be sure to review it on Simplici7y as well.
