The models look pretty good, especially the human weapons. I don't particularly like the alien weapon textures though. The AR especially seems overly metallic and I was under the impression that the AR and Scatter Gun were more organic in nature. Maybe it's just the matte appearance to them, in which case they could just use some polish to create a more reflective/shiny appearance.

His chest pads clearly show that he is black.

Dang, how'd I miss that marine render before?

It looks very nice. However, being that the marine has a more specific identify in Eternal than in the original games, I would if anything show more of his face, not less. Also, while the matte finish on most of his armor looks fine, it may make him hard to see in a multiplayer game.

once you see it in game it will have colour indicators in him aswell, which will make visibility easier.

I disagree with a render that shows the Marine's face.
The Marine should be whomever the player is, and therefore has no face that you can see.

He should have a dark skin color too.
That way it works for all ethnic groups.

For example.

If one were to argue the player character is white, you could just say he's been in the sun awhile.
Also, if one were to say the character a pacific islander, it fits just fine.
And if someone were to argue the protagonist is black, then you could say he has a skin disease that is slowly eating all of the character's skin pigment.

It works for everything.

Or you could just have something that covers all.
But mainly, the Marine should be whomever the player is, and therefore has no face that you can see.

HOw about the players skin is white, because it works for:

A white man, obviously.
A pacfic islander with a skin disease.
A black man with a skin disease.

Why? He raises good points in his post. A faceless marine is good. You don't see yourself in solo anyway. I guess you do in coop, but then the story is fucked anyway. No terminals adress you as twins :P

Just because you don't see the face doesn't mean he shouldn't have one. Some of the artwork (namely the ending screen) depict at least part of his face. Also, look at Half-Life. Gordon Freeman has a recognizable face despite it not being seen in gameplay, but that doesn't ruin the story.

His face is fully covered for one very simple, pragmatic reason:

His suit is supposedly vacuum-sealed. The Bungie sprites with the lower face exposed clearly are not. So the new sprites fix that gaffe.

there is 1 only reason to why he doesnt have a face. because Im not good enough to model one that looks decent enough for you quality craving behinds!

The Infinity Marine's last 4 color tables have darker skin than the first 4.
