I think you're thinking of the the C-130 Spectre and Spooky attack gunships, no?
They come with anything from 20mm gatling guns to 105mm howitzers.

Mmmm yes.
The operative word there being "MASSIVE."
I asked about the recoil on the rail-gun, but I think I know. It's because that 130 mm round is either a huge pancake that will cause a massive air current, or it will cause the whole spaceship to move beneath your feet.

Do not ask why he is aiming with his right eye and holding the gun with his left.

Here's your railgun. The barrel is a bit larger than that on an Abrams MBT.

They were meant as a joke at your expense.
I did actually draw actual things, but they weren't satisfying, so I posted some jokes.

I've done some more drawings and made another map. still cant get drawings uploaded. I think Ive got my Shotgun though,

Burst Cannon
Packs a 7 shot burst, this weapon was the predecessor to the WSTE shotguns. It can take all kinds of bullets to suit the situation. Canister Rounds are a popular use. Also Plasma/Energy rounds are useful assets to this gun. The alternatives are just straight up bullets. Fires 3, 7 round clips, secondary trigger will fire the secondary bullets or all 21 shots, depending on the model.

The diff'rent ammo for diff'rent levels concept is not a bad one, but it could get super confusing. Make sure the player always knows exactly what kind of bullets they're loaded with.

I think i would know after the first shot or so... its kinda obvious if its a glassy green thing as opposed to an invisible bullet thing.

still, you don't want to run up to some high health monster and use the secondary that fires 21 shots to find out it fires explosives and kills you.

All this talk about weapon inaccuracy and its effect on enemies.

How about this?
A Marathon Scenario where your weapons are all varying types of automatic machine guns that have accuracy ratings that go from BAD to WORSE.
So no accuracy, forcing the player to get up close and hose his enemies up close.
Now fill the levels with Monsters that can kill you INSTANTLY from up close, and have ammunition for your weapons EVERYWHERE.

That will make the player think, and have a new play style.

You can barely hit anything from mid to long range.
But you'll only get instant death if you get too close to your enemies.

I don't know whether to view that as a bad idea or a good one.

I know you have experience with making scenarios.

Make it. I personally think it would be great, sort of a R6V-esque game, except you can't snipe and they can't snipe.

I was thinking about how cool it would be to have only small arms, for a variety of situations.
Shotguns for one strong enemy close up.
Sub machine guns for multiple enemies close up.
Assault rifles for medium range against a variety of enemies.
Long rifles for long range power.
Hand grenades for taking out room fulls of soft targets....

But, you have absolutely no ability to take down armored targets. You would be hell-on-two-legs to all sorts of enemies. But a single Jugg-type could massacre you unless you had support from Rocket BoBs.

Of course, the more I thought about this, the more I realized it would be incredibly stupid to rely on terrible allied AI to save your ass.

I think Rocket Bobs were already done in Harkozynx 9. They illustrated your theoretical problem perfectly. One awry shot and the entire group goes flying (dead), maybe even the player.

Moppy, stop having ideas. Or better yet, Have ideas, and keep them in your head! Third and final option, make the scenario yourself.

This is really pathetic. If you ever have a scenario with real content ready for it, you can make a thread for that.

It's starting to seem like some members here think this is a *chan board, it isn't.
