Eternal X 1.2
I may integrate the old metal texture (the watercolory one) into the new "indoor" texture, since the two of them are so similar already.

Another note on darkening the lines, doing so would help tie in your race/shape connection theme. With just a bump map, you look at it and go "that's a square grid," and only when you look much closer you say "there's a subtle pattern on this square grid." With the lines dark as on the original, it's first "there's a bunch of intersecting ovals," and when you look closer, "the ovals happen to be set in square tile"
I had kinda forgotten that this set was supposed to be oval-themed, actually, and have just been recreating the old textures by rote without thinking about it much. I'm glad it sorta fits the theme accidentally, anyway.
I touched up this one tonight as discussed: And updated these two as well: Having figured out better ways to do swirls and spirals, I'm a little tempted to go reconsider some old Pfhor textures that frustrated me before too, but ain't nobody got time for that.

VERY nice! Love how that watercolour turned out, and the last one is like... calligraphic tilework.
It's kinda trippy how the lines turned out on the flower-grid, but I like it. However, the way it meets the grid doesn't work so well. It looks like you've got the black lines and the grey grid at the same depth, I think it would work better if the grey were actually raised slightly. So you have the blue foremost, grey middle, and black hindmost. Maybe that violates the laws of bathroom tile, but this isn't bathroom tile it's Eldritch Abomination Tile and needn't conform to human sensibilities.
Oh, and were you able to incorporate Aaron's stuff into your tree, or did you still need me to deal with that? It looks like you did some stuff on GitHub. Sorry I didn't get around to that. Life is busy, and it'd been over a month since I released an update to Redux. But, now I'm sick so I might have some time.

Thanks for the praise
I don't really follow what you're saying about the different levels, but it's late and I'll try to reread it tomorrow night.
I incorporated Aaron's stuff into my tree by just merging the folders in the Finder and letting it replace anything that Aaron had a newer version of. I'm not sure if I lost anything of yours in the process there, and I'd like if you had the time if you could compare the current folder on GitHub to your folder and send me a PR for any changes of yours that were lost along the way.
Hope you get over your sickness soon.

Bit late, but I really like how those new textures turned out, especially that last one!
(Hope you get better soon, Lia!)

Thank you, Radix
Looks like everything's fine on GitHub, Pfhorrest. Pity we didn't figure out the "right" way to do it, Git documentation is not very intuitive.

Awesome, thanks for checking
Not sure how I feel about tonight's batch:
Regarding the last few batches of textures:
· I like the bump maps a lot, from what I can see of them.
· I think I like the colours of the originals more, especially for the rock textures. I think I also like the colours of, e.g., file #7556 more than #7555.
· Still an improvement overall.
I may write more in response to some of the last two weeks’ worth of posts later. I have a headache right now and should probably get some sleep.

thanks aaron, specific suggestions like that help a lot
(anyone lurking who thinks this all sucks horribly, it would be very helpful if you could say what specifically sucks about it so i can try to fix that, so long as fixing it doesn't mean going back in time and having made a completely different scenario in the first place, which i would do anyway if i could, but i can't. i'm sorry.)
i'm not sure i did those last two right. i'm sorry.

jesus fucking christ this computer. and the cruelest irony about it is that i will probably end up buying myself a new one for my birthday, at the end of this month, right as i'm finishing this texturing project that could use it the most.
(i'm trying to keep up an accelerated pace so that I can spend one month per chapter looking over all the maps and still call it done by the end of the year).
i don't even have an opinion on my own shit anymore:

At the moment I haven't really got much commentary more insightful than what I've already offered (that's a problem on my end, not yours); I've thought about offering rough visual ideas for some textures, but if you've already got specific things in mind for all of them, I'm not sure how useful it'd actually be.

not a fan of the bump-mapping. moppy was indeed a prophet. what's old is new again.

11:30 PM <moppypuppy> watch shrek 2 while eating cheesy nacho hamburger helper.
Within the constraint that the new textures have to fit in the same layout as the old ones so as not to create tons of new work retexturing everything, I'd love to hear any ideas you have.General-RADIX wrote:I've thought about offering rough visual ideas for some textures, but if you've already got specific things in mind for all of them, I'm not sure how useful it'd actually be.
In principle, or the way I'm doing it? If in principle, it can be turned off in preferences. If the way I'm doing it, what specifically am I doing wrong?irons wrote:not a fan of the bump-mapping.

Lookin' good!
Apologies if you already redid this and what I've made is totally redundant.
Regarding the S'pht set, I'unno what the term for that specific metal texture with raised ovals shapes is called, but it makes me think of garages and hardware stores, not S'pht temples and whatnot. Dunno if anyone feels the same way.
I have re-dos of all of S'pht texture 38's colour variants, but I can't upload them all here because the damn .ZIP is too large to attach.Pfhorrest wrote:Within the constraint that the new textures have to fit in the same layout as the old ones so as not to create tons of new work retexturing everything, I'd love to hear any ideas you have.

This is my latest version of that texture you just posted, from earier in the thread:
I'm not sure what texture with raised ovals you're talking about, do you see it anywhere earlier in this thread you could link to it?
