First off, let's make this official:
If you prefer watching something, check out the trailer here: https://youtu.be/4LvxjTw8rjk
Some of you may have seen W'rkncacnter's videos from some time ago featuring various examples of spells he scripted to work in Aleph One using Lua. Since then, I started mapping for the project, which has turned into a full-blown scenario featuring a 10 level campaign with a story, numerous player classes, the ability to level up your class and your weapons, nine "spells" to use along with your standard weapons, on-demand energy cans, the ability to talk to the dead, lootable bodies, and more.
Istoria features all-new landscapes, some new and updated textures, and textures from Marathon 2 and Infinity. Standard M2/Infinity monsters are present, but some come with a new twist. Levels can be revisited later if need be. Special thanks to Irons for creating an original soundtrack for the project that utilizes Lua for unique song playback in certain instances.
Needless to say, Istoria will be a very different experience from the standard Marathon scenario. With all of the additional tools at your disposal, some combat situations are tougher than what you might encounter in the original games. Gone are the days of backtracking to a safe recharger -- but you can boost your health whenever you need, provided you have the energy cans to do it.
Istoria is currently under development and will be released sometime soon. Stay tuned.

The Pfhor have launched an attack on Istoria - a planet with ancient ruins currently occupied by UESC forces, including yourself - and you must defend the planet at all costs, lest the Pfhor get their hands on all the crazy technology in your possession.
That's all I'll say for now :p

Thanks for making it so Minor ranked aliens appear in Total Carnage. The color variety makes the game more visually appealing, and I never liked that TC takes most of it away. Gets a little boring when every guy you fight is wearing purple.
I'm having a few graphical issues when using the BRUTAL MARATHON plugin. It interferes with the spell graphics, making them invisible. With the HD explosion graphics on, the scorch decals appear as clusters of purple orbs, and with them off, explosions become black silhouettes. It's definitely present in the trailer footage, so maybe a modified version of the plugin was used, or something could be wrong on my end.
Nevermind. Found it. :C

Love Marathon, and also play Doom on modern source ports? You might like these skins!

Agreed. It's nice having the spawns work the way they're set up. Provides a better variety of combat overall. Sometimes I want a group of green fighters to easily clear out :-PPresident People wrote: ↑May 3rd '23, 21:16 Thanks for making it so Minor ranked aliens appear in Total Carnage. Well, it's not my cup o tea, but I'm having fun playing it.
The key word is 'customize', you dont have to pay attention to everything
just the essentials. If'n you want to pay attention to everything, that's OK too.
Personally I dont go for hordes of monsters leading to weapons to deal with them
but it's OK here, and the scenery is nice to look at.
Hmmm... would a monster closet be a hoard of a horde?
Going back to previous levels is a good idea. For example, I was low on O2 but the next level had a O2 terminal
so I filled up and went back to the previous level and wandered around under water just exploring.
Then later I could explore under water by going back to a level to get O2.
And, it has a well written story. No purple prose. At least, so far.
Cura ut valeas.

Thanks for playing, Helvius. I'm glad you at least had fun. I know Appleswitch is in the midst of rebuilding S7, so leaving new reviews might not be an option yet, but will be hopefully soon. I'm not sure new uploads are working yet, even.

W'rkncacnter, Irons, and I did a full playthrough of Istoria (including all secrets) with commentary, for those who are interested. The full series is up on YouTube:

That's great. I'll watch them after I've finished the particular level.
Simplici7y has been fixed at least as far as commenting and I left a comment about Istoria.
Another think I like is that it is still Marathon.
