So I began making a map, and accidentally moved the decimal point for my water. so instead of .25 it was 2.5 wu tall. I would expect a lot of smearing, but I got the oppostite. It's just a little random. Map included.

Aleph One doesn't have smearing issues when looking at the sides of liquids.

That doesn't give you an excuse to do that, though.

Sometimes it does, it depends on your settings. I refer you to Goran's liquid bridge thread.

Oh shit dude, that was hilarious! I love the way the side of the water splooshes when you shoot it. Also how the stairs were dry, and then BAM you walk right in.
I've wanted to try that to make some lame bullet shield thing. Like in Star Wars, that only block weapon fire.

I believe Hathur's Workshop had something on that...

That's true, but the way it was explained included so many caveats and cautions that I got the impression it was nigh impossible.

Actually, a liquid bullet shield has been done quite a lot. May I refer to the levels Okefenokee Tourist Trail and Exit Door Leads In, where liquid shields were used to good affect protecting security locks for some circuitry and keeping the player incarcerated, respectively. Also, I remember as far back as Devil in a Blue Dress, where a liquid shield was used to imprison that engineer you had to free. It's possible alright, though I don't remember a ricochet of the sides of the shield. Now that would be interesting to see.

its just a force field with no current, if you want to walk through it, but stop bullets... easy as pie. you can even texture the sides if you want.

Well, generally for it to be at all effective as a force field (Assuming it's task is also keeping people out and not just stopping bullets) it needs to have a current running in the opposite direction of how it would be approached by the player I.E.

Hey, that's pretty neat sounding.
That could make for two different types.
1: An actual clear barrier(that you could remove) blocking a pathway.
2: A piece of cover you could walk through in a larger arena type area.

Most(any?) enemies will not attack you through media though, right? But it would be neat to see tons of dudes shooting you and it plinking off the surface of your shield thing.

If you want to make one, go to Hastur's Workshop
