Cool, the domain name is finally fixed! I'll have to try RSS again now that it is.

Any chance you'll take CSS submissions? Something has to be done about the terrible ugliness of that site.

Edit: where did the rating averages go?

Didn't know where to put them. I wanted to do more work on the views, but thought getting the stable code out first was more important. Everything different visually was done back in November.

You could move "download" so it's next to "write a review" and put the rating stars in the upper right.

I don't particularly like the gray but you did a great job overall.
Its just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. Then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

Why do you have EMFH twice? And you appear to have got rid of the CTF map link. And your also missing the culmination of stars next to each map so people can see what others thought of the pack at a glance. Aside from thoes things great job, Its definitely an improvement.

Nice catch [MSmile] fixed.

I going to spend a day or two polishing some of the code and then I'd love to hear any ideas for visuals. I can post some concepts for feedback.

I like the new layout, but the gray text on the white background is a little hard on the eyes. It would also be nice to show the ratings of the files like the previous version.

By the way, if you need any kind of graphics to help make the visual quality of the site better, please let me know. I'd be glad to help.

That image was generated with Wordle using the body paragraphs of each Item on S7.
( click thumbnail for full size, original here )

Added searching within tags, scenarios and users today.
Fixed error messages when user typed in URL for nonexistent Item by hand ( without referrer ).
Been following the logs all day, looks like everything is running smoothly.

Some Simplici7y stats, as of July 29th, 2008:
  • 102 Users
  • 73 Items
  • 11,682 Downloads
  • 122 Reviews
  • 1.7 Versions per Item

I haven't been able to connect to http://67.96.53.196:3001/ to get my new password, and I can't sign up for a new account because my email address is already in use.

I guess you're allowed to rate things multiple times now, to make your low standards ("playable" = 5 stars, just found out) known to the world:

Any chance we can see the map name in the reviews RSS?

Must have hit submit twice accidentally, it happens, and there's no delete button. If you think some ratings standardization in the form of a suggestion box on the new rating view would be helpful, feel free to write something. I'll start you off:
  1. Back to the drawing board
  2. Needs work
  3. Average
  4. Good submission
  5. Classic

This was bothering me too, fixed it a few hours ago.

Well, my point was, why are people allowed to rate the same version of a map multiple times? A new rating should remove that user's old rating for that version, at least. Otherwise I can just write a script to keep giving One Way 2 5 stars.

Just haven't gotten to complex ratings rules, kept it simple and got it online. Banning users is a good temporary fix. I wanted to finish my weighted ratings system before adding the after_filters to the ratings creation. I just finished database modifications and populations, going to start on filters and rules now.

Any changes to my rating suggestions? I think "Average" needs rewording, a 3 should be a solid submission, but that sounds a bit like #4. Maybe change it like this:
  1. Back to the drawing board
  2. Needs work
  3. Solid submission
  4. Great
  5. Classic

Can you explain how you envision weighted ratings working (do we need these?) rather than just posting numbers and making us try to puzzle out your math?
