As Crater Creator pointed out in this thread, Making a separate thread for each question is more organized. However, considering all my current questions are small ones, I simply can't justify making one thread per question. My solution: The Stupid Questions Thread. Ask what ever the hell you want, as long as it's small. And this isn't just for me, you can ask a stupid question too!!
Treellama. $lave. Do whatever the hell you want with this thread, as long as I get my questions answered I'm happy.

My first question: considering that this game was made back when they used the "legacy" controller scheme as standard, are the "glance left/right" controls even relevant/useful anymore?

Hey, you made a topic for yourself rather than making someone else do it for you. You're alright.

I've seen them used in online play recently.

In which way exactly? I'm asking because I think mouse looking or even "turn left/right" would do a better job at anything "glance left/right" could do.

Well there are still people that don't mouse look. And it's good for really humiliating someone when you kill them with it.

True. But in a pro-mouse look world, does it have any purpose?

not really, but there is no real reason to change it either. Same with the look/strafe key

I suppose that concludes that question then, unless anyone has anything to add.

Ok then, nest question. Why does it seem like nobody plays multiplayer matches in this community? Every time I go on using infinity, it's fucking empty.

Glance lets you run in one direction and shoot in a different direction. You do not turn when you use glance. Turn and glance are two entirely different movements.
I just play 'em; I don't know how they work.

I don't know, maybe it seems like nobody plays multiplayer to you, because every time you go on, it's fucking empty. You weren't kidding, these are stupid questions.

My point was it doesn't really seem to have a purpose these days.

(Buzz off Wrk, your "input" is not needed here)

Hmm, the maximum movement speed is slower for strafing than running forward. As far as I know, one could use it to dodge more effectively while fighting (execute a quick 90º mouse turn before using your glance to stay pointing at the target). Impractical? Probably.

*edit*
Wait! You can running punch like this! That makes this really useful

Uh, ok. His "question" was why does it seem like nobody plays multiplayer, and then he goes on to say that every time he joins, it's empty. So what is the correct answer to that then? The fact is, it wasn't really a question, he's just complaining in disguise. Add the fact that he's swearing and it's impossible to take his question seriously.

That's OK though, I can stay out of this thread from now on.

That's ok wrk, what I probably should have said was when & how often do you play multiplayer? How often & when do other people play online? Is there a certain schedule people here follow? Because I'm not a mind reader & as far as I can tell there's never a damn person online when I am!

How do you run & punch like that? I've only tried running forward to punch.

I usually see people weekdays between 18:00 and midnight Eastern. Saturdays often don't have players until late. Aquateenhgrforce and Benoit are almost always there.

You run right past them, and tap the glance key + fire as you go by.

Is this a thread about questions that are stupid, or a thread that is stupid and about questions?

I think it is the former, i.e. questions that a large segment of the population knows (or think they know) but some don't. For example, does the sun go around the earth? In the USA about 25% of the people would say yes or don't know. Or, another example, why is it dark at night?
The title is to suppress replies such as that's a stupid question.

As for the latter, stupid thread would be a value judgement and with a previous thread getting these comments

When you make a post like that, you gotta link the thread being referenced.

I mostly named it that just to be an ass. But, yes, it's a thread for simple small questions. The type of questions users that have been here a long time would call stupid (hence it's name).

Sounds sort of like a physics bug. In real life, when you lunge forward at someone to punch them, you gain momentum which can make you punch harder. It simply makes sense. But when run forward and spontaneously turn to the side, that momentum is lost, making it just a normal punch. Momentum is gained by increasing speed & keeping the same direction. It is lost by dropping speed & changing direction. Seems like Bungie overlooked this, then again this is an old game.
