I've commented so much on glitches and project ideas (and even posted a project) that actually forgot to introduce my self. Hello this is 3371-Alpha (you could call me Alpha for short) typing this message on a PowerMac G5 running Leopard. I'm 18 and just graduated form high school. Though I'm not a "professional" in computing my high school had it's own IT program that taught me plenty. I got stuck with this old ppc mac from a friend of my fathers. At first I was annoyed it was old though glad it was free. Eventual (after looking up the ppc architecture) I realised I had a piece of history sitting on my desk. Now I'm glad I have it. I'm part of this community now because this is one of few games that run of PowerPCs (besides Oolite, Vega Strike, & a few others). I first started playing Marathon about a month ago, boy is it fun. Good games never get old. This just shows that graphics don't make a game good, being enjoyable makes it good. So here I am saying hello from the platform this game originated.

Nice to see you 3371-Alpha. I am kind of in a similar computer situation as you. I have an old Mac and Marathon is one of the freeware game engines I can do level design with. Welcome aboard.

Thank you Philtron. You can see my machine specs in my form signature. Out of curiosity what kind of mac do you have (iMac g4, powermac g3, ect.)?

Oolite and Vega Strike?
Years ago I worked on a game called Dawn of Infinity. It was to be a massively multiplayer version of Escape Velocity. It was never finished, but I researched similar games as part of the project. I still have Oolite and Vega Strike bookmarked, among many others like them.

Honestly never actually played Escape Velocity, but I can say Oolite is awesome. Vega Strike is cool too but it's lack of mod support on Mac and Windows hinders it slightly compared to Oolite. I also noticed Vega Strike development has stoped recently, I wonder why.

The first Imac with a flat screen monitor, the G4s are sturdy models. I believe (unlike the G5 Imac) yours has an advantage of accepting processor upgrades. Doesn't matter how old it gets nothing replaces a good old powermac, huh?philtron wrote:iMac G4. The one that looks like a lampshade.
