Has anyone ever considered doing a Marathon podcast? Just discussing the games, story and etc. It would be something interesting to listen too or to be apart of.

Here on the Pfhorums there were JUICEcasts done years and years ago by irons, but I'm not sure if they're still up or not. I've often thought about some sort of podcast about the community or games but I don't know how much traction it'd get in such a small community. Might be cool though.

What would there be to talk about? There's almost nothing going on in the community.

It could be a monthly or twice monthly podcast discussing recent news, and rummaging through the archives for old levels to recommend and what makes them great.

Maybe highlight bugs that were fixed over the history of Aleph One. Cool features that few people know about.

I'd be interested in seeing this, just to see what you think the news is from the last month.

"Alright, the first Marathon podcast. Here we go."
"Yes, I'm very excited."
"So, anything going on lately?"
"Two months ago someone uploaded new multiplayer maps to Simplici7y."
"Exciting. Are they fun?"
"I don't know. No one else is ever online to play with."
"So... hmmm... um... how about the story, though? Am I right?"
"Totally. I remember being blown away by it twenty years ago."
"Right, that's that... so... what's your favorite weapon?"
"The Needler."
"Different game."
"Good point, let's talk about a different game."
"FALLOUT 4!!!!!!"
"OMG FALLOUT 4!!! OMGOMGOMGOGMOGMGOMG!!!"

That's the interview segment for the first podcast, right there.

It would turn out like a spoken version of this or this.

So, basically, the script has already been written? This should be a cakewalk. Someone could get this podcast done in ten minutes!

Heh, yeah, true sort of. But, there could be a load of stuff to talk about. It just doesn't have to be about what's recent.
Could have topics such as how people first came into contact with the games.
Comparing Marathon to other FPS games of the time.
Talk trash about newer games *cough* Fallout is lame sauce.
Discussing ways to get a new breath of life into the community.
Try tracking down some of the developers of Marathon and interviewing them.

I dunno, I just thought it'd be something fun/interesting to do.

Then it sounds like maybe you're the one to do it.

Every giant ... presupposes a dwarf, every genius a hidebound philistine.... The first are too loch for this world, and so they are thrown out. But the latter strike root in it and remain.

I propose a seven hour podcast miniseries titled "patcast", which explores the complex and riveting musings of the patrick during his eternal tenure here at Pfhorums.
