Hello from a longtime lurker

So, I figured that I had lurked long enough & it was high time that I actually register

Been playing Marathon via Aleph One for a few years and even with SheepShaver recently. I just wish I'd known about Marathon way back in '96 when I had a Performa 5215CD. So, yeah. Hopefully I can contribute something to this community

Welcome to our community! I'll admit, we aren't as big as the Doom/Quake community but were still here none the less. We've got bugfixes, advanced rendering technologies and plenty of scenarios full of cool sci-fi shit. You'll fit in perfectly in this community so long as you can handle cursing/swearing and some member being occasional assholes (don't take it personal, it's how they make friends).

TIP: although we allow posting pictures of dog shit and gamers t-baging each other, we do not allow posting porno pics. The dudes in the Pigeon Lounge learned this the hard way.

Thanks. Since Marathon originated on the Mac the majority of us on the Pfhorums are Mac users. We got some Linux, some Windows, but mostly Mac. You can see my machines specs below in my signature.

Edit: also, hi new guy. So sorry a newbie is giving heartfelt advice about the harsh reality of the Pfhorums to a longtime lurker. You don't have your machine specs in your sig, so I think you'll do fine.

I don't think newbie's a fair word to call me. Although I haven't been here a very long time, I've already finished the first two Marathon games & developed my own plugin (granted it was based on a previously abandoned plugins).

Actually that can be helpful at times, as you don't always have to retype your machine specs whenever you ask for help.

so you probably already know: read the Pfhorums.
If you arrive and there are no new posts, read some old ones.
Pick 'em at random, mostly they are timeless, three and four or even seven ( though seven is only even for very large and very small values of seven, mostly seven is odd) years ago, read as if they were written today.

Also, there are some intriguing inconsistencies i.e. Pfhorums is flagged by the spell checker.

I know the Pfhorums is a quiet place compared to Gaia Online or Chicken Smoothie or wherever you came from, but there are in fact more than three people that post here.
