More earth-based scenarios?

Discuss and unveil current Marathon projects.

Post Dec 14th '08, 19:09

I think Tempus Irae was a great scenario because it brought Marathon to Earth, an idea that could definitely be explored more. I think it would be fun to do a scenario based on feudal Japan. Of course, some knowledge of Japanese history would be required.

The player could use weapons like throwing stars and an ancient and higly-valued Katana sword. Or perhaps, assuming the scenario has multiple planks like Rubicon does, the player would acquire a different set of weapons depending on which dynasty they are helping, i.e. the "bad guys" get the ninjas and ninja weapons, and the "good guys" get samurai swords, bow-and-arrows, spears, a horse to ride on (which greatly increases damage tolerance), etc.

It might also be fun to do a scenario based on the U.S. Civil War, WWII, the Mayans, etc.

Just some ideas.

The game is Shadow Warrior guys. Uses an advanced Duke Nukem 3D engine and allot better game play too, but it didn't get much of the hype other games got from that engine such as Blood as another one... [MAngry]

Japan is overrated, I think China would make a better game. The Chinese were the early pioneers of technology; they invented explosives, cuckoo clocks and toilet paper. Seriously, wouldn't it be awesome to play a scenario in the land that invented toilet paper?

Don't forget mass producing goods for foreign countries! And my personal favorite, Ruining the environment.

Well, although there is no substitute for the original Marathon trilogy, it cannot be denied that some very great mods have been made. Rubicon is by far my favorite. Is that the only mod with more than one plot line? I played Eternal, but it's more like you get teleported into a 'failure' timeline if you don't complete the objective on certain levels, and then you get sent back to a previous level to correct your error.

Anyway, I've got a piece of music to finish.
