Re: ULTRA MARATHON

Well, if you want, you can use the Windows 95 versions of the maps, though I think it'd be nice if there were the option to use the original versions of Marathon 2's maps. Just having the option is nice.

Re: Finally throwing out Halathon

Curious question for Crater Creator: Would it be possible to make a script that could replace some stairs with slopes (without using 3D objects?)

Re: Pfhorpedia

Perhaps Pfhorpedia can focus more on story elements and Traxus can do more coverage on mods and total conversions, on top of a more general, yet still detailed, coverage on the story of the individual Marathon games? Also, Pfhorpedia should link to the Marathon Story section of marathon.bungie.org f...

Re: Rambling about AI sentience and cyborg hardware

Still, I somehow remember something about Jjarro tech and the marine.. maybe I'm just thinking of Eternal's Cybernetic Junction Thingy (whatever it was called-). Eternal is not canon to the Marathon story! XD Well, I recall that Infinity's ending mentions something of the Cyborg Security Officer be...

Re: anyone ever done this?

Has anyone tried to build a scenario with undead? It would be cool to try to simulate a zombie plague. What about one based on Star Wars? A Force-based "weapon" (lightning, 0-damage TK throw, etc) could be interesting to script. Thinking a "shared ammo pool" that was drained at different rates per ...

Re: Rambling about AI sentience and cyborg hardware

I'd more argue that the Zeus Class Fusion Pistol is humanity's most advanced weapon, given how effective it is against technology such as switches, juggernauts, and so on. Also, keep in mind that the Pfhor on L'howon didn't have high morale, not to mention that the invasion of the Marathon was rathe...

Re: Rambling about AI sentience and cyborg hardware

Pfhor Troopers wear additional armor, and Pfhor Hunters wear a form of powered armor (given that it shoots out electricity when it explodes, on top of the explosion blast radius, if the animation itself is anything to go by.) By the way, it's non-sequitur to claim that more advanced technology must ...

Re: Pf'hak - Frequently Asked Questions - 8 Years Too Late

Sarcasm in an FAQ is going to be offputting and possibly misleading to newcomers, so I'd advise youu to steer clear of having sarcasm in an FAQ for practicality's sake.

Welcome. Do you play, or have an interest in, Marathon? I have a youtube channel too, but no videos. I occasionally comment, but most of the time I watch videos about anime, video games, Shadowrun, video game news, and when I'm in the mood, Marathon. (By the way, RyokoTK did a fairly entertaining le...

I had your video on in the background while I read diablo patch notes, so sorry if I miss anything in my review here. You said a lot of words. Some of them were opinions, some of them were explanations. You showed some gameplay. In conclusion, this was in fact a Let's play type video you made. Hope...

Re: Marathon Phoenix video commentary

The key part of making a "let's play" work is having a personality and voice that is not off-putting to the viewer, and to have commentary that's actually interesting. Different let's players have different styles. Some make jokes, some talk about their day, some talk about trivia or interesting fac...

If you're serious, well... I don't have any real justification to offer. Kinda just a bit curious. :3 It would be kinda nice to take a peak into the past with regard to history that I wasn't really aware of for a while. Sure, I've been using Apple computers for much of my life, but well, it's only b...

Also, you can skip whatever you want and go back, and read at your own pace. That gets at the biggest improvement I'd like to see: a way to review previously read terminals without physically returning to the same spot. Surely you'd be able to download terminal briefings to your 28th-century smartp...

Re: Storytelling in video games

I can actually see where the OP is coming from with regards to this. Sure, you can alter or even create small side-narraties within a story arc at best, but you can't change the fundamental outcome. Take the GTA reference for example. Yes, that is creating a form of "mini-story" within the game's w...

I haven't tried that. Thank-you for the suggestion. Wacky idea: Perhaps aliens were coming to seek asylum originally, but the negotiations didn't go too well, so now they're angry and attacking the ships because they didn't quite get what they were hoping to, feeling that they weren't being given adequate treatment?
