Re: Aleph One 1.3b3
I'm an idiot. I didn't copy all of the frameworks from the dmg. Once I did, everything built perfectly

Re: Aleph One 1.3b3
So, I'm able to build it via Xcode. Everything goes well until I get this error message: CodeSign /Users/eisnerguy1/alephone/PBProjects/Build/Products/Development/Aleph\ One.app (in target: Aleph One) cd /Users/eisnerguy1/alephone/PBProjects export CODESIGN_ALLOCATE=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/...

Re: Aleph One 1.3b3
So, I'm trying to compile from source on my Mac. I grabbed the code via git clone https://github.com/Aleph-One-Marathon/alephone.git I tried the command-line route first. I ran autogen.sh and then configure. Everything goes well until this: checking for SDL2_ttf... no configure: error: You need SDL2...

Re: I was bored so I made some Animal Crossing designs
Those look really cool? Can I share the last couple of them on my tumblr? with a link to the imgur page of course (or any link you want) Thanks! Sure, that works :D Also working on remaking the 25th Anniversary shirt as well. Have to tweak a few things but, it looks pretty good so far. edit: I uplo...

Re: I was bored so I made some Animal Crossing designs
Thanks! I completely agree. I loved the whimsical-ness of mid-90's Macs. I'm also working on some NookPhone case designs too. Just waiting on a customizable NookPhone case to make sure the design works.Zott wrote:Neat! I approve!
The Welcome to Macintosh logo is always such a whimsical design.

I was bored so I made some Animal Crossing designs
So, I was a bit bored at home so, I made a bunch of Mac/Bungie/Marathon-related designs for Animal Crossing New Horizons. I'm pretty happy how they turned out

Re: A big thank you to Aleph One’s devs
That fader .lua script sounds interesting. Anything to make the experience closer to the original Mac version is awesome. Lossless versions of the soundtrack already exist. In 2011, the soundtrack was recorded using QuickTime 2. Here's the file page on Simplici7y . You can grab the .wav files on htt...

Re: Putting the Marathon Vidmaster's Challenge films on YouT
Thanks. Yeah, I’m worried about that, too. Plus, a lot of links just disappear. IIRC, the Rubicon site used to have a lot of extra content besides just the scenario, but it’s not there anymore even when the site is up (and it isn’t even always up). I think the website might’ve even had some vid fil...

Re: How to disable Smooth Text?
Yeah, it is sharp @ 640x480. Why would disabling smooth font work on Marathon but not the other 2 games when @ 1280x960? I would understand if all 3 games had smooth font while @ 1280x960. Isn't the text separate from the HUD in all 3 games? The Marathon 2 HUD is rendered at 640x160 and scaled up; ...

Re: Kill Bob LeVitus Marathon
Wow, this is one of those dumb but brilliant marketing stunts. I guess the next step would have been a 'Gameboy Camera' style: "Put your face in the game" Macworld booth. Yeah, exactly. Kinda special since it was a semi-official new shapes file. edit: https://i.imgur.com/WC34vGL.png I call this a w...

Re: How to disable Smooth Text?
There's two sets of smoothing going on here: Smooth Text, which I do think you've successfully disabled (to the extent that's possible), and the texture filtering when the 640x160 HUD is scaled up to fit your screen. I don't think you can turn off the texture filtering on the HUD. You could run at ...

How to disable Smooth Text?
I was just wondering where is the setting to disable Smooth Text? On the System Se7en page , it mentions the ability to do that. I changed the setting manually in the generated preferences file on Mac OS X. This only worked with Marathon though. In the attached screenshots, the text is still smooth ...

Re: Kill Bob LeVitus Marathon
Man, I love oddities like this. XD Thanks for uploading the shapes file. (The back of the disc sleeve claims to have "unique levels" for M2; wonder if that's accurate or if their idea of unique levels was "the same ones as in M2, but with clones of Bob LeVitus") No problem! Just let me know if ther...

Kill Bob LeVitus Marathon
At MacWorld 1996 , Power Computing (a popular Macintosh clone manufacturer in the mid-1990’s) released a CD-ROM called “PowerComputing The Disc 2” . This contained a special demo of Marathon 2. Instead of the normal sprites for Bob, there was instead special sprites of the Director of Evangelism of ...

Got the Marathon Trilogy CD alpha/betas working
So, I've been trying to get the alpha/betas included in the Marathon Trilogy CD working in SheepShaver. For awhile, only the "macworld sf - jan 94" alpha would work & the other 2 builds "first non-orthogonal - may 94" & "feeling the noise - june 94" would crash SheepShaver immediately after opening ...

Welcome to our community! I'll admit, we aren't as big as the Doom/Quake community but were still here none the less. Hello from a longtime lurker
So, I figured that I had lurked long enough & it was high time that I actually register :D Been playing Marathon via Aleph One for a few years and even with SheepShaver recently. I just wish I'd known about Marathon way back in '96 when I had a Performa 5215CD. So, yeah. Hopefully I can contribute s...
