Re: Aleph One 1.3

Interesting, so when I changed the "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" from 150% to 100%, my highest resolution went from 1536x864 up to 1080p. That's weird that a game would operated on my Windows 10 font sizing, hmmm. But now I can't read anything, of course. :/ The problem ...

Re: Aleph One 1.3

There doesn't seem to be a 1080p option, hmmm. My graphics options will only go up to 1536x864 and when I try to force 1920x1080 in the preferences it defaults to 640x480. :/ I have a EVGA GTX 1060 SC 6GB and I'm playing on a Samsung 1080p 120Hz monitor. I tried it in 60Hz and there still wasn't a 1...

Re: Join the Marathon Evil Netgame Club

Uh oh! It would appear your discord link is broken!
No, it would be really cool to join some netgame groups, I just want to wait until Aleph One 1.3 comes out before I redownload all of the games again.

Is there a Trello or patch notes for 1.3 final, and do you (Hopper and Treellama) have a roadmap to getting to release?

Is there a way I can deal with color banding through software, or does it have to be fixed by hand?

Re: xBR Textures

Why so many conversions? DDS should really only be necessary at the end for Aleph One. In Aorta, you can't use the export options menu for batch when in png mode, and the png output still has blue in the transparent pixels, but when I test the DDS output with the Fast Halo Removal on, the blue in t...

Re: xBR Textures

There's one major problem with trying to upscale the original assets: dithering. Either you're going to have to use a de-dithering program (which the results honestly don't look good from what I've seen) or carefully blend by hand. You're probably just better off editing the XBLA textures to look c...

xBR Textures

I've been going through my Marathon stuff and I've found my old batch image manipulation programs, namely the xBR-capable Hawkynt scaler. I ran some tests through with ShapeFusion bitmaps and I've decided that I can come up with a new workflow and make more xBR textures for Aleph One. My new workflo...

Re: Remastered Marathon Infinity sounds

Marathon 1 desperately needs to have remastered audio, but if I remember correctly, a lot of the sound effects for these games came off of Sample CDs. Would it be possible to identify these CDs, locate, and recreate these sounds? This is some great work though. Makes me think about Dolby NR and dbx ...

Re: Marathon 1 Redux

I wasn't aware of the quirk in Vasara, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll try to be more careful with textures going forward, making sure that scripted polygons function as intended. The Tycho texture was used because on my machine, the terminal wall was black. Vasara pulls straight from...

The pitch blackness was due to the fact that Light Level 6 on Bigger Guns was set to 0, pitch black. Re: Marathon 1 Redux

From what I've gathered so far, Bigger Guns Nearby right now has three major problems 1: A visual information problem As in film there needs to be an "establishing shot". Usually games do this by starting players in a big room so they can get a sense of the visual cues and they have an inc...

Re: Is there a way to play in a more vanilla (chocolate) way

You can just do what I did and have two builds for each main game with their own preferences.
I'm sure there's a more efficient way of doing this, but I can't be bothered.

Re: Weland Won't Open

I have found the solution. As previously stated by Flowers and Qweasy908, Weland likes a very specific version of GTK# which is version 2.12.20. However, that version is not available on mono's official archives as of now because 2.12.45 is the current version, I guess. So I did some googling and I ...

Weland Won't Open

I am running the latest .NET Framework, I've tried installing GTK#, I've tried installing Mono, I've tried previous versions of the release, Weland will do the little blue circly thing and then no window. In fact, I redid all of that. I uninstalled Weland, I uninstalled GTK and Mono (can't do anythi...

Re: Classic vs. Enhanced? Why Not Both?

I ended up having "Marathon" and "Marathon Classic". These go along nicely with my "M1R" and "M1A1" folders. My Marathon build is where I'll probably do the most enhancement work. My Marathon Classic build runs in 640x480, low res, no transparent liquids, and ...

Classic vs. Enhanced? Why Not Both?

Hi, yes, it's been a while since I've been here. I was wondering if there was a way to have two different builds of Aleph One, so that each can play independently and have their own preferences, plugins, music, etc. In my personal case, I basically want an enhanced decked out version of the games, b...

An excellent treatise, Flippant Sol. I'm too exhausted to get into specifics right now, but I largely agree with what you're saying. Speaking of exhaustion, I should really take a break for a a week or so. Getting the conversion work done, from Arrival - Ingue Ferroque, was a big milestone, and if ...

I love seeing this project progress. Focusing on M1 and making it better is the best possible thing that the surviving community can do. Unfortunately, I don't believe that M1 Redux and what I envision are one in the same. I'd go into more detail about how I would "redux" M1, but I don't w...
