Re: A pretty awkward fistfight
Pretty random question, but are there any known scenarios that involve the Security Officer fighting an alternate timeline version of himself? Dunno about a fully fleshed out single player scenario. Closest thing I know of would be this. Probably not what you had in mind though. http://simplici7y.c...

Hooray, and congrats on the release! I'm curious, what are the future plans for Aleph One's development at the moment, if any?

Re: Help figuring out Marathon scenarios
There are two things needed to play a scenario 1. The scenario data. This should be what you downloaded. 2. The Aleph One executable. This is what you probably don't have You can get the Aleph One executable here https://alephone.lhowon.org/download.html Follow the instructions according to which op...

epic official Marathon™ gamer merch (not clickbait)
If you're incredibly lame (like me) and want to own some official Marathon™ merch straight from Bungie, they have recently released a 25th anniversary shirt for you to throw your money at. Though let it be known that your money will probably be going to making more Destiny DLC. Maybe this will be th...

Re: Workflow for mapping
Since Shapefusion and color palletes have been brought up a few times, I thought I should mention that landscapes are bugged with Shapefusion. It will turn completely black when you try to use a new landscape. I use a patched version I found here that works for me on Windows 10 http://pfhorums.com/v...

Re: Aleph One 1.3b3
I hate to be "that guy" but I'm not sure what I'm looking at and nothing I've tried yet has fixed it. I can certainly say that maps didn't look like this in the previous version of AO. I could be wrong but it seems as though this only happens in maps with somewhat long viewing distances, a...

It's not an actual scenario. Just a showcase.

Re: Those pesky map indices
It’s possible that the difference is that Windbreaker just didn’t use as many polygons in a single area, but if that’s the case, is the problem also partially that there are so many polygons clustered together, beyond the mere usage of ambient sound objects in those clusters specifically? I'm no ex...

Re: Project Conflict
Really hard, but also really interesting. I like the use of plain gray textures. I'm unsure if the choice to use them is stylistic or circumstantial, but I like the minimalist direction of the scenario with the drab color combined with the angular architecture. This scenario of yours definitely has ...

Re: Texture Set Templates
EDIT2: last time I had to futz with this stuff was trying to get a Myth2 colourmap to work so let me know if there's stuff I *don't* have to worry about. The only issue I've personally ran into when adding new textures is that I'll have a texture created, but when I go to add it to the Shapes file ...

Re: Texture Set Templates
Alternately, is there a more contemporary (i.e. not the Anvil manual) guide to creating texture sets? There really is no need. As stated above, a texture is simply a 128x128 image. You'll probably want said image to be seamless but there's nothing complicated about it. You can define a space to 128...

Re: Contacting the Portal of Sigma team
Before we get back to regular, scheduled programming, I need to know something....Are hunters biological Pfhor that just wear armor or are they mechs of some sort? This has always irked me and since you guys are talking about enemies, I have to ask.

Re: Contacting the Portal of Sigma team
You're the type who'd buy that second stereo, aren't you? No. Analogy aside, I typically don't trust used electronics. I got in touch with Simon and he didn't want me to use any of the PoS textures. Whether he is the rightful owner of these textures or not, I had decided to drop the idea anyway bef...

Re: Contacting the Portal of Sigma team
What Ryoko and Patrick are saying is this: Portal of Sigma is tainted. If you're looking to redistribute or borrow from it, chances are you'll step on someone's toes regardless of what Simon says Damn, that's a lot to unpackage in that thread. However, from my understanding, despite Simon giving Ry...

Contacting the Portal of Sigma team
Does anyone here know where I could contact any of the developers of Portal of Sigma? I've been working on a project by myself for some time, and since I'm no artist, I'd like to be able to ask permission to borrow some textures from Portal of Sigma. However, the only means of contact I've found was...

PSA: Marathon: Durandal XBLA is now playable on Xbox One
https://twitter.com/majornelson/status/1100440511339409408 Apparently two weeks ago the Xbox 360 version of Marathon: Durandal gained backwards comparability for Xbox One. Unfortunately, I only just learned about this today. Now, this is old-ish news, but seeing as how I had to learn about this on m...

I am running the latest .NET Framework, I've tried installing GTK#, I've tried installing Mono, I've tried previous versions of the release, Weland will do the little blue circly thing and then no window. In fact, I redid all of that. I uninstalled Weland, I uninstalled GTK and Mono (can't do anyth...
