Re: And yet no one knows

some common errors that confused me but were hard to spot were "terminal pics" vs. "terminal picts," including the terminal image folder in the individual map folder as opposed to in the scenario folder, etc. i'm not totally sure that's what you're asking about, but maybe check those things?

Re: Weland 1.4

I've gotten visual mode also but it seemed buggy to use it. Can someone tell me how to operate the editor "Goodly"? If you mean there's actual glitches/errors, I can't really help you but you might consider going into more detail on a visual mode thread. For everything else, the secret is to make l...

Re: Fixing Marathon 2's Pfhor Levels

Hey man, I'm not sure I agree with you (my favorite Pfhor textures are Infinity followed by M1 followed by M2, but I don't think any of them are all that bad), but definitely put together a better texture pack if you have the skills. I don't need to think that this is a Serious Wrong™ that needs to ...

Re: Project Conflict

I don't know if you've looked into this yet, but in Delusions of Grandeur there are a couple polys that need to be marked monster and item impassable. In particular I noticed a lot of enemies spawning and getting stuck in the pattern buffer ledges near the middle of the map, as well as in the area u...

Re: Project Conflict

This is pretty cool. I like to play very short games offline, and this is perfect for that. Easy enough for a quick diversion, and hard enough to keep things interesting. Nice job.

Re: Looking for feedback

Thanks! I remember reading Hastur's Workshop back in the day, but I never saw the bit about bouncy walls. That's helped me find and fix several of them so far. I turned down the volume on the sewage, and I'm considering making the level a bit harder as well. I am about halfway done with a second lev...

Multi-Stop elevators

I'm making a multi-stop elevator and am running into the problem of it going out of sync. The control platform doesn't seem to deactivate things properly, and I can't figure out why. Any ideas? Screenshots of each platform: Screen Shot 2017-09-28 at 3.05.20 PM.png Screen Shot 2017-09-28 at 3.09.29 P...

Re: Looking for feedback

Thanks, guys! Now that I think about it, I think the reason for setting it to rebellion was that I didn't originally have any intent of putting enemies in the level, so having the player collect their weapons seemed like a good way to give the level an objective. This was back when it was like 150 p...

Re: Looking for feedback

Bumping with a much more polished (and pretty much complete) version. Terminals and everything work, and there shouldn't be any major bugs. I hope. Be warned, if you play on total carnage some of the ambushes go from fun (in my opinion) to kinda cheap and unfair, but I think the combat is at least s...

Re: Custom level causes Aleph One crash

Thanks! Based on that info I was able to find and delete an extraneous switch poly I forgot about and that fixed it.

Custom level causes Aleph One crash

All I changed as far as I know was deleting a few polys and changing some ambient sounds, and it made the level go from running fine to insta-crashing when I click "new game." Here's the notification I get: Screen Shot 2017-09-22 at 5.51.26 PM.png And if anyone wants to open up the map file, here's ...

Looking for feedback

I'm making a total conversion of Marathon. I've never mapped anything but I love to draw so I assume it will be easy. I'm looking to try and make it over the course of a month or so, which should be no problem because I already have all the chapter screens! lol just kidding. can you even imagine? Bu...

Long time player, first time poster

Hi y'all! I've been playing Marathon since the beginning (when I was a little kid, sorry if this makes anyone feel old), and mapmaking and modding was basically my hobby throughout my middle school and teen years. Nothing remotely releasable, but I've enjoyed watching the community from afar and pla...
