Re: Make Marathon maps in Source engine
If I recall correctly, Weland can export the maps in .obj format to check the general shape. Mesh only, no textures, objects etc.

[question] Jump, but only a limited height
Poking in the cheats.lua I got the code pieces to make the player jump. So I started with this: Triggers = {} function Triggers.idle() for p in Players() do if Players[0].life > 10 then -- jump! if p.action_flags.microphone_button then if not p._latched then p._latched = true p:accelerate(0, 0, 0.1)...

Re: Inm. Pfhor Sprites
So, between working on personal projects, some commissions, and general slowness, progress on these has been gradual, but I wanted to stick this preview here: Cool! [MSmile] ...would you be interested in a map I use to check my Shapes file modification? Is basically a single room with the monsters ...

Re: Anyone got a copy of 1-10 twiddler?
I hope I'm not doing a slight with this necropost, but I think maybe a listing of the process in one post might be useful to someone. Of course if there's something to correct, tell me so I'll update this list. These informations refer to compiling Shapefusion on Linux Mint 18.3 (Ubuntu derivative, ...

Re: Workflow for mapping
I tried pasting some example image in the jjiaro wall collection, saving as .png from Gimp with the color profile stripped away, and I didn't notice any particular mismatch. I'll try with something other and checking the glow.

Re: Shapefusion sequence animations
It is not possible to have more than 8 view angles unless you want to get into 3D model replacements.[...] Ah, I see! I was wondering about that because I'm more a fan of the the hand-drawn look, rather than the 3D rendered one (it's the reason I personally find the freeverse version of the sprites...

Shapefusion sequence animations
I don't know if I can explain myself decently, and I don't know how to search for this, so apologies if it's something already asked. There's a screenshot of a .shpA file open in Shapefusion, sequence editing: shapefusion.png I see in the "Sequence type" dropdown menu that the max views po...

Re: Workflow for mapping
Placing it here because I didn't find anywhere else; the Aorta manual link in the sticky threads is non-functional and my search didn't go anywhere, so I went by trying it out: to merge maps, follow the file/folders structure coming out when you split a complete map file with Aorta -- which is sligh...

I do too, and I also feel bad whit killing BoBs (the SO should be there to protect them).

Re: Workflow for mapping
So many information, thank you! I guess I have to amend a lot of things in my initial list! Yes, I usually work in Gimp. ...Well, Krita, actually, then I import the whole sprite sheet in Gimp because it's easier to convert images to a specific indexed colour table -- and as you said, exporting in DD...

Re: Marathon Chronicles
I swear I still had to read the updates in this thread before posting mine [MSmile] If life would kindly stop throwing curveball in my face, I might be able to contribute with something, either in basic (VERY basic) mapmaking and try my hand in designing a weapon and creatures and such. (Not before ...

Re: Workflow for mapping
Sounds mostly correct, except that I wouldn't call MML a programming language (it's just static markup like plain old fashioned HTML), and also for that high-res texture step, you'll probably want to convert your high-res textures to DDS using Aorta. I forgot about Aorta, oops. I used Gimp 2.8 to c...

Workflow for mapping
Hi! I'm trying to get the gist of mapping, after not doing anything for way too many years. I searched around the various platforms dedicated to discuss Marathon (mainly here on the Pfhorums and the sticky thread in this forum section) and I tried to get the most updated workflow for content creatio...

Re: How strong IS The Security Officer?
I don't have the physics background to calculate that but leaving dents on control panels, directly break them or killing with a few punches make me think "quite strong", yeah. [Personally, I'm not for giving away too much details about stats or backstory, it makes me break a bit the immer...

Welcome aboard. I like the art. (a really belated) thank you :) That's a good reason to do things and that's the reason people here do what they do. Arrival_0003.png ...well, that's a way to address shield scarcity! :D I admit I phrased that slightly wrong, I meant more like "for my own fun wi...

Juzo-kun's art stuff
I was asked some link so here's some of my art.. Marathon fanart gallery on DeviantArt (old things, mainly). Unfinished comic splash page from that time I did try to draw a comic about the first Marathon intro text. Other panels here . (Also ooooold.) A rather unlikely crossover (Slightly more recen...

Hello?
Hi. I'm Juzo-kun, long time fan. I'm lurking here from a while, since I discovered various projects in progress I'm looking forward to, and then I decided to suscribe. A few ones might have already seen this nickname attached to some fanart of Marathon: yep, I'm that Juzo-kun. At the moment I'm tink...
