Re: here it is

I haven't played the map, so take this with a boulder of salt. I kind of backed myself into a corner the way I designed the level. Considering how tight everything is, it would be impossible to enlarge rooms without entirely removing others. You might consider using 5D space, if clear map usage and ...

I'm really sorry about that. I tried to delete that post right after posting, but I guess I didn't do it right.
The problem I was having seems to have been caused by a conflicting plugin.

Re: Finally throwing out Halathon

whenever I look across the chasm near where you start, I still drop to like 5 freaking frames per second. Edit: It was the escape pod. Turned off 3D models, escape pod disapears, lag goes away. If you have OpenGL (Classic) selected, switch to OpenGL (Shader) and turn 3D Models back on. You might be...

Re: Hi-res M1A1 weapons

Nice improvement. The gauntlet is better (both the structure and the texture), but it's too thin where the armor folds over itself at the jigsaw contour running down the forearm. I would definitely add a plate of armor on the back of the hand. Be mindful of the back of the hand, it's looking too con...

-For the fists, many of the problems stem from me not having much practice with hands and arms, so I will see what I can do. A common mistake with hands is to make everything curved or rounded, and to understate or ignore the hard edges and straight surfaces. Strive for more angular geometry (on th...

Re: Hi-res M1A1 weapons

I see potential here, especially with the improvement from your initial release, so I'm going to critique the latest version. Take any criticism as a compliment. I hope you continue to improve these! The main thing I'm noticing is the lack of structure in the gauntlets. What you've got going on look...

Re: Weapon design changes between Marathon 1 and 2

For the HUD, I did get the sense that in Marathon 1 it's understood that what you see on screen is literally what the marine sees through his cybernetic eyes, HUD and all. The HUD we see is not literal. Much of it is there for us as players, not the character we play as. Think about it; it's outsid...

Re: What made Marathon great

I'm actually very curious about Ares' answer. What makes Marathon's multiplayer better than other games? Could you explain? Just to clarify, when I said Marathon multiplayer (I'll just say Marathon from now on for simplicity), I was mainly thinking of EMFH for three reasons: It's the best game type...

Re: What made Marathon great

There's no doubt that Marathon has a great story. And Zott brings up an excellent point about the tools. The tools for creativity that we've been given are truly great and I've often wished that other developers would gove us similar tools (map-making at least, c'mon!). But it surprises me that nobo...

Ok here're the files I've been able to restore so far: http://www.mediafire.com/?e17lz5s8gi8q6e4 I just tested out the beginning of a couple maps, and already I notice there are some impressive things going on here. Nice work! I had no idea differentiating walk cycles from run cycles was possible, ...

7-Zip slows down my system much less than winRAR when unzipping, unzips more file types, has better compression, and has fewer (none actually) errors when unzipping to an external drive (for me, anyway). I highly recommend everyone out there at least try 7-Zip.
