There's actually a way to get around the height limit in Forge - set a platform that extends from ceiling to floor, make it initially inactive and not extended, and specify the desired height for your ceiling and floor. Of course, that isn't particularly practical for most uses, but if you aren't us...

This has been a fault since the original Infinity at least, so it's probably native to the game engine and might be impossible to fix. I find that unlikely, though it's anybody's guess exactly what causes it (and my programming knowledge is nowhere near sufficient enough to look through AO's source ...

Actually I haven't posted at any *chan board since the start of the year, I just use the "x y is x" meme because it's expressive. And like V for Vendetta. Ok, I can see how you'd get that impression.

Agreed that it doesn't really qualify as a flamewar though, I just felt like being blasé.

2/10. Uninteresting flamewar is uninteresting. Try harder next time.

Wouldn't a 32x32 room of 1WUx1WU squares crash Marathon due to the ">16 points in a straight line" problem anyway?

Unless AO has been fixed to circumvent that bug since I last checked.

On the whole I agree that using Pfhor textures with, say, water textures doesn't work that well, but at the same time I think it's possible to use the contrast between texture sets to create an effective map. I actually find Jjaro and Sewage work rather well with each other because a lot of the text...

Either that or he could just build them in pieces and merge them with Pfhorge or Chisel. Actually, finding out that 1024 isn't hard-coded into the engine is rather fortuitous, as it should enable me to complete a few maps I was running close to the poly limit on without splitting them into pieces as...

I don't really think it matters too much how realistic the use of lighting is when it comes to differential shading - it's more important for the map to look good than for it is to adhere 100% to the laws of physics (not surprisingly, the Hastur's Workshop piece that coined the phrase "differential ...

I've found that the best way to work around this problem is to leave the terminal files out of the initial merging and then cuntpaste them in after the fact with Hex.

When I looked at the problem about ten years ago I vaguely remember coming to the conclusion that stateless lights actually do work, what's broken is just Forge's implementation of them - in other words, creating a new light and clicking "stateless" won't actually cause the "stateless" flag to stick...

nice avatar, aside from riceboy that's got to be my favorite graphic novel (i hate that term, but comic book is worse). Don't let the immature and the mature trolls here turn you off, you learn to like it. Moore is what got me into the medium in the first place. So yes, I'd agree, though I'm not su...

You may be on to something. The main glitches my films get is that they cut off at teleport terminals, and or skip some actions I took and end up messing up the recording, like just before the room with a terminal, it skips that action and begins replaying the actions of the next level. Is there an...

I started using this handle several years ago largely because of that quote from Alex in the Marathon Scrapbook, but I'd never before used it at a forum where a large percentage of the user base would actually recognise it. So this'll be an experience. I was a frequent contributor to the Story pages...
