Re: Marathon 1 Redux

Is there any specific criteria you're looking for when it comes to the colony levels?

Re: Marathon 1 Redux

Cutting? I plan on adding levels. I'm glad you appreciated my hard work! It could be that you've experienced the same bug as Perseus Spartacus, which can be avoided if you a) run the latest unstable build of Aleph one, or possibly b) Start a new game, close it, and then start a new game again: I re...

Re: Marathon 1 Redux

Do let me know what you think, Flowers! It is not very polished or complete at this point, but the more feedback I get, the better this will be! I only played the first level and a bit of the second level. I sort of just expected some new 3D scenery and some new geography outside windows but I was ...

Yup. Just removed projectiles="on" from MML from a fresh zip and it loaded up. Ty for tech support. Now time to actually play it, I haven't played the previous versions of Redux so I'm jumping in for the first time.

Re: Marathon 1 Redux

When I try to launch M1 Redux Aleph One says that the map, images, shapes and sounds are not correctly installed even though they're clearly there. I suppose I'm the only one with this issue. Any idea how I can fix this?

Re: POLL: Current state of Marathon and the community

Probably not a big deal to anyone but I'm checking out of here. No real reason other than it doesn't net me anything other than burning time. I feel like my interest in Marathon is gone. Big thanks to Flowers and ravenshining for helping to get my project out the door. cigarette-butt-2.jpg RIP. Now...

Re: Marathon 1 Redux

I'll consider the idea of using red text for Tycho, but only post-reanimation, and I'd like to hear more people's opinion. If I do use blue text, it will be representing the player's suit systems as it does in M2. I think Tycho using red text post-rampancy would be a good touch, as he actually does...

Re: A fourth Marathon??

The only chance we'll ever see a new Marathon game is if Bungie were to give the IP to someone else, and they were to decide to do something with it. Until then, and if then, it is the sole responsibility of the fans to create new experiences and adventures in the Marathon universe. At this project...

Re: POLL: Current state of Marathon and the community

Perhaps not under the bright lights of Broadway but, if you go into the slum back alleys and basements where love is costly, life is cheap, and carnage the only reality, you’ll find the Marathoneers. Those who don’t care if their cape makes them look fat. Those who don’t spend half their time in a ...

Re: POLL: Current state of Marathon and the community

I think it needs an artistic overhaul of level geometry and sprites more than it needs engine improvements, but that's quite a lot of work... work I dabble in from time to time, and our collective dabblings have produced some amazing work in new textures. There's even room for improvement in textur...

Re: POLL: Current state of Marathon and the community

You know, zMarathon is starting to sound more appealing than Aleph One at this rate. Aleph One isn't good enough. It isn't future-proofed, it upholds flippant standards from a bygone era of computing, and its development shows no promise or enthusiasm. For the longest time, it couldn't even play th...

Re: So who still plays around these parts?

To be completely honest, there's still a good amount of levels in Infinity I'm not familiar with all too well. Every playthrough of Post Naval Trauma is a nightmare. So is one thousand slimy things, Foe Hammer and to a lesser extent By Committee. I'm not sure what it is about these levels, but I jus...

Re: So who still plays around these parts?

If I had to rank all of the Marathon games, it would go something like: Marathon 1 > Marathon 2 > Tempus Irae > Pathways Into Darkness > Rubicon > Infinity > Phoenix > et cetera Truth be told, I don't like Marathon: Infinity as much as the pfhirst two, for me, it was kinda lacking the humor that ma...

Re: Making a door that opens after 15 minutes

Thank you both for your info. I think I found a way around the issue though, as this project is for the survi val game mode and I've set certain enemies to spawn around 15 minute which drop uplink chips you can use to unlock said door. I think this technique should suit me in this instance but I'll ...

Re: Project Conflict

I had some fun, but there seems to be some problem with BOBs spawning in with no sprites. I played for a while on Return to Waldo after I had accidentally shot enough of the invisible, impotent BOBs for them to start complaining, and then all effects (explosions, blood) stopped appearing, too, maki...

A while back RadBurn mentioned he'd like to see Conflict be used with the survival game mode. At that the time, I wasn't sure I could help with that, but I noticed that there was a survival lua generator on Simplici7y. Making a door that opens after 15 minutes

For a project of mine I need the player to be trapped in a section of the map for about 10-15 minutes (preferably 15 minutes(yes, I know that's a very long amount of time)) before being able to leave. I'm trying to create a door that opens after 15 minutes but it doesn't seem possible? The slowest s...

I've always been confused about the ending of Infinity. Does Lh'owon blow up or does the station's gravity bending space-magic save the system from the trih xeem? The S'pht'Kr talk like they're evacuating but I've never been 100% sure.

It is, but it's a bit more tedious as you have to texture walls in-game and not with a program, unless you're running the original Forge.

Re: Fixing Marathon 2's Pfhor Levels

It's hard to take you seriously about what is ugly and what isn't when you leave the "hd" monsters/weapons turned on. In my opinion some sprites look better, some look worse. For example I like the look of the HD hunters and enforcers a lot, not a big fan of the HD fighters or yetis though.

It MUST happen, it is an eventuality. No business person will ask you, "Hey, would it be cheaper to come up with a completely original IP, or should we just reboot this critically acclaimed IP that no one has heard of, and thus, no expectations?" The latter will always be correct. Once De...
