I may be a man of many talents (or at least I perceive myself as one), but the visual arts tend to elude me completely.

So this topic is me seeking out help for The Gray Incident BX. The things I'm looking for:

1. Chapter/title art. TGIBX requires the following:
- Five chapter screens, one for each episode (these will be normal sized, not scrolling)
- Epilogue screen (this will scroll)
- Title splash, menu screen, and credits

2. Terminal art. When I write terminals I tend to use the Information screen type, since it seems silly to me to expect your commanding officer or whoever to illustrate all of his messages. Therefore, terminal art will mostly include:
- A handful of generic logon/logoff screens, likely just one for every entity that communicates with you (which should be about five or six)
- Stylized map/information screens

(For both #1 and #2, if drawing people and aliens is too difficult or inconsistent with you, that's fine.)

3. New weapons. I think I'm going to shuffle out some of the old weapons that I'm not especially fond of for some new ones. I need someone who's good at making interesting-looking weapons since they'll be in your face all the time. TGIBX won't use hi-res image replacements so all you'll need are weapons that can be loaded into the shapes file itself. Along with these, item pickups, HUD images, and Marine-carrying-weapon sprites will be needed. (For the HUD images, TGIBX uses the standard Infinity HUD, so just regular green contours will be fine.) I'm looking for:
- A new one-handed submachine gun of some sort to replace the IMP. A reloading animation won't be necessary, nor will a complicated firing animation be needed since it will fire very quickly and it will be reloaded off-screen. An ammo pickup is not needed. This weapon will be dual-wielded so if you include hands in the sprite, make sure only to have ONE.
- A new fusion cannon to replace the one I have. I'm less and less enchanted with the one I have. It's similar to the old Fusion Pistol, but it fires more slowly and is much more powerful. Therefore the weapon should convey a powerful shot somehow. Looking for something thematically similar to the M2/Inf Fusion Pistol and the Rubicon Fusion Rifle. For this one you can use a reloading animation if you like, but most other scenarios don't use it so it's not necessary. The current ammo pickup is a red cylinder; if that works for you, that's fine, otherwise produce a new one.
- A combat shotgun. Something that looks like a "real" semi-automatic shotgun that's magazine-loaded (kinda like the Saiga-12) and not pump-action. It will have either single- or double-barreled firing choices, so it should have two barrels (likely one above the other). This one should have a reload animation.

4. Sounds:
- For the crossbow, I need a firing sound and a projectile flyby.
- For the combat shotgun, a firing sound and a reloading sound.
- For the energy blade, some kind of energy-discharge sound when it strikes.

TGIBX is well underway. Check out the work in progress. You may know that I have pretty high standards, both for myself and others, so I'm looking for top-flight stuff.

These are sounds recorded from a shotgun being fired and reloaded. Hope they are up to your standards.

I can probably handle your points 1 and 2 no problem, though I'm less sure about the chapter screens, depends on the kind of content you want in them.

I can give you better details for each one if you're going to do it.

You did the chapter art for Eternal? That stuff looked pretty good.

oh sorry, I didn't look.

The firing sound, though accurate for an auto-shotgun, feels weak. And since the gun uses a magazine rather than individually inserted shells, that won't do either. Thanks though.

Yeah, though that's all just combinations Eternal's existing sprites and landscapes and textures plus misc framing and text and such. If what you want in them can be made from similar TGI materials, they shouldn't be a problem at all.

I think I could get a few sounds for a crossbow. Let me dig around a bit.

Edit:
Yea... This is something I found on my Harddrive (I think I downloaded this a few months ago from somewhere). Perhaps it might be usefull?
The flyby, I suspect, might sound a bit to much like a bullet, but the firing sound is nice.

That does sound too much like a gun. Pretty noisy for a spring-loaded crossbow.

I think I would qualify for making terminal art too. If you want to see an example, you can click the Winter I link in my sig. The screenshot you see on simplicity is Zenith's logon, by me. If Pfhorrest can satisfy your needs, then you don't need me, but in times of need (triple "need" bonus!), I suppose I can help.

I definitely liked the Winter I art, it balanced out being generally simple with a certain degree of skill and detail.

Fobo can take care of chapter art perhaps, but your terminal art skills would definitely be appreciated! I'll get more details for your terminal art in a few days. (Same goes to Forrest and his chapter art.)

I believe only the logons and offs were mine, the other art was stolen from original marathon or created by shadowbreaker. Anyway, I'd be happy to help but I'd like to know from the start when you are expecting it to be done.
(no question about image sources)

I don't have the slightest idea when I expect TGIBX to be done since school just started up again... let's say the end of the year for terminal pics, okay?

I'm just going to pretend you didn't ask me about image sources.

End of the actual year, as in, December? Because just before you were talking about school so it could have been summer. But either way I should make it.

I don't even know what you're talking about. I specifically didn't ask a question about it.

I was actually kind of unsatisfied with the pics I made. Usualy they were just distorted screenshots of stuff with partialy legdible (sp) non-sense text. But I suppose they served their purpose and gave clear and detailed maps... rather than the Apotheosis ones that looked amazing but completely unclear.

Maybe I'm just cynical.

Yeah, what's most important about the map screens is that you can... you know, use them.

If they look attractive that's important too.

I love to draw guns, but I've never been able to swing a marine holding gun sprite.
I could draw up some guns though, if you'd like.

Usually my writing is better than my art, but with these three images you can see I was having a bad week for both.

Awesome! I can't wait for this scenario. Those new weapons look great, though the Imperator-Quickdraw looks like the Cronus Class Fusion Pistol from Eternal X, which though it may be noticed by me, I doubt many will notice it.

Except for the first one, which looks a bit too much like the Marathon: RED pistol for my tastes. The others are at least original though, and have some promise.
