My bad. That was an April Fool's joke. (Laugh) A MOTHERFRIGGIN' SPECTRUM MAN! All the A.M.S. levels amused me.

Favorite scenarios are Phoenix, Rubicon, Kill 'em All, and of course, you know it, Yuuuu-Jah.

Most probably already know from one of my posts in the Marathon Discord, but my Yuge playthrough is on indefinite hiatus while I try to solve some prahblums. Thankfully I'm already making some good progress on that front, and part of my self-motivation for solving these prahblums is that once they're solved I can allow myself to go back to Yuge. I've been adopting a monomaniacal approach to things as of late where I pick one thing to devote basically all my free time towards until it's either finished or covered to my satisfaction before moving on to the next thing. As such, I'm addressing this personally urgent thing first. After that I may take care of a few short-term projects that can be completed over the course of a few days, but after that I want to make Yuge my fixation and not let up on it until it's finished.

I don't know how long it will take me to get there, and yes, I am aware of the Yugeclock. This may take me a long time. But suffice it to say that I believe I actually stand a greater chance of completing the Yuge playthrough at all if I take care of these prahblums than if I don't, even if I finish late. I'm not bored of Yuge though, I have not given up, and I want to return. Thank you.

Currently I have completed 1,697 levels, which is over a third of the way through a total of 4,352.

I have finished JIHADIC. Here is its final video. So far it is the peack I have completed the fastest -- I began on November 23rd and finished it on December 1st. All in all, the precipitation didn't really affect my playing.

I have begun Roguelike Edition. Here is its first video. Right now I'm on level 21.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=695RrxxiURg

As I expected, the removal of save patterns has necessitated me taking a more thorough approach to playing in order to avoid dying in a level and having to start it back from the beginning, but this hasn't slowed me down too much -- I still seem to be averaging 8 levels an hour. I must say that my new approach for this peack, be it under duress, has given me a refreshing experience with Yuge in which I can really soak in the atmosphere and combat more. It's made the game more fun again and brought me back to why I in the first place have loved not only Yuge, but Marathon in general. I'll go more back to my rushing approach after the peack is done, for timing's sake, but this is nice.

The peack after this will be Spinal Tap. That's probably my most anticipated overall, but I also wonder how much more monsters there will be than normal and how much that might slow me down.

Until then, on I go with Roguelike. 1,813 levels down, 2,539 to go. Thanks for your interest!

Spinal Tap Edition has begun. Here is its first video:

There's a couple more videos in the pipeline -- I'm now on level 33 of Spinal Tap Edition. So far my impression is that its my favorite sub-peack in all of Yuge. Also, while I can finish levels for it faster than I could for Roguelike, it's the main sub-peack so far where I have to sometimes stay and fight rather than rush through because it's physically impossible to do the latter. There are more monsters in this sub-peack (as well as more weapons, ammo, and shields), so sometimes pathways will be totally clogged up by an absurd amount of monsters. This has lead to some of the funnest and funniest moments. Sometimes it seems like a riot is happening.

I have now completed over 2,000 levels (at this point I'm at about 2,080). By the time I finish Spinal Tap Edition, I will be over halfway done with my playthrough of Yuge.

To wit, I've been told that I have until around the beginning of 2020 to finish my playthrough. In theory that would put me a bit behind schedule, but A ) I've gotten considerably better since I began, B ) I'm devoting more time to this, and
C ) I don't anticipate another hiatus (let alone a 4-month one) like I took this year.

I don't think anyone has actually said this.

True, I phrased that wrong. What I meant to say is that yesterday I calculated the days remaining based on the hours I was told I have left, and that added up to 383 (now 382), or a little over a year, taking us to January 2020.

No one ever told you how much time you have left, as no one has any real idea when that may be. Maybe you're referring to the countdown timer estimating when you're likely to finish based on previous progress.

Yeah, that. I guess I had gathered over time that it was (or had become) more official, like that the prize would be lost if the game wasn’t finished in that time frame.

Regardless, 2019 probably will be the Year of the Yuge anyway. I just wanna get on with it and finish, and when I think about it, finishing Yuge would be a real beautiful and appropriate way to help say farewell to the wack decade that is the 2010’s. It’d be like one of those bigly events that captures a Shitegeist.

You just started making that assumption, and it was bothering you enough that I didn't want to correct you.

Yuge update.

Wrk and I put together an update of Yuge over the past few days. Version 1.2 fixes the actual story terminals on the 30-level campaign so they work with the newest version of Aleph One.

I also added fog to a number of the original campaign levels, and made several other small adjustments as well, including making that goddamn switch on the first level more noticeable to you fools.

Merry Christmas.

I finished Spinal Tap Edition. Here is its final video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyFRNuS-fi0

As of this post I am already over 3/4ths done with Wuss Edition, which I began two days ago. I'll probably finish it tonight. For some reason I have had trouble uploading the videos for it (and it's not because of length either, since I've been able to upload longer videos before), but I'll figure it out soon.

Wuss Edition is finished. Here is its first video:

I have begun 4GOTTEN Doogs. Here is its first video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzNJq0SV5ds

I have now finished all 2,304 levels of the Bigly Bonus Maps. Together with the original sub-peack and the 57 levels I've completed so far of 4GOTTEN Doogs, that makes 2,617 levels total. I am over halfway done in terms of levels, with 1,735 levels to go.

I am now digging into the sub-peacks on Douchetower's secret link. I have 8 sub-peacks to go before Adminn's Challenge, but they comprise 768 levels, or 3 normal sets of 256. 4GOTTEN Doogs is taking me longer to get through level to level than any other sub-peack so far because it has extra monsters with the same normal amount of shields and ammo, so it necessitates more thorough playing; however, it is half the average sub-peack length at just 128 levels, it's shaping up to be played through start to finish in the span of a week, and I think it'll be the slowest-going peack for me until Adminn's Challenge. The sub-peacks between those two will likely be easier.

Besides, being more thorough has given me a chance to experience Yuge in a fresh way and really take in the atmosphere and immersion. One might not think that such a goofy scenario could be so atmospheric, especially after having gone through its several Yugeparts countless times, but it is. It's still fun and edifying too.

Here's another nice fact: I made my comebeack from a 4-month hiatus on November 15. Assuming I finish 4GOTTEN Doogs by January 15 (which I think I will), I will have completed at least 1,350 levels over the course of two months. At the rate that I'm currently going, I believe I will finally start Adminn's Challenge in February.

I have begun the sub-peack Patrick. Here is its first video:

Patrick is like Bigly 1, only the terminals revolve around Patrick and his many golden wisdom nuggets. It won't take much longer to finish.

I just downloaded this "scenario" and "played" it for a "bit"...its really stupid. Kind of fun. But it's really stupid. Kudos to you all for trying to keep the Marathon community alive; I just wish you'd put your effort towards something more...less stupid. Cheers!

Isn't this scenario supposed to be a Conker like?

I haven't played it so I have no clue about it.

I really don't know what else you expected downloading a scenario called "Mararthon: Yuge", my dude.

Yeeeah...let me say that I probably shouldn't have written that. It was at 3am after a night of drinks, and was meant to be a goofy-charming-sarcastic post that I now know didn't come off nearly as clever as I thought it did. No sarcasm in the good work statement, though, I'll take new Marathon material however I can.

It's so stupid, it's great, it's hilarious. It's also separately secretly brilliant.

My apologies for a couple videos having the video moved up so that you can only see the bottom half of it at the top of the screen. I'm not exactly sure why that happened, but I think it's a bug related to the fact that I paused recordings midway too many times (I use a program called iShowU Instant). In the future I won't pause as much and will just stop recordings after a certain point and start new ones. However, you can still see me select levels or saved games from the menu, so that's how you know I actually completed the levels even though you can't see the name of the level near the top of the screen when I turn on the automap. :3

I have played through the first 10 levels of Adminn Challenge Part 1 and will have those videos up soon. Here it is, the home stretch!

As of today I am taking a break from Yuge until the beginning of March, but once I start in again I'll probably be going pretty heavy. I decided to play through the first 10 levels of Adminn Challenge before my break because I wanted to see how long it would take me to get through that many. It turns out it takes me less than 2.5 hours, which is not bad. I'd like to finish each of Adminn Challenge's four sets of 256 levels within a month, with a projected finish in late June.

Thanks again for everyone's interest!
