Its interesting, isn't it
I reference the Marathon Series as a whole
from TC, To TC, all the way from M1, M2, and MI, to here.
what a little company called "Bungie" started.
I say this, because I finished Eternal Recently, the last scenario on the list of ones I've done.
Of course theres ALWAYS net play, but I rarely see people in it.
I suppose this is what it feels like.
Marathon has always made me sad, and the endings just make it worse.

I say to all members of this Forum, why?
Why the anger, the trolling, the flamewars?
Has this what Marathon become, simply a bunch of bickering people, brought together by a interest in Marathon, but always at one anothers throat?
I see the occasional project pop up here and there, Marathon C, etc, etc... but for the most part, Marathon has stagnated...the Eternal project is perhaps too aptly named, as I fear it is the only project that will be eternal, as it is the only one still being worked on, really.
Perhaps, the old dog that is Marathon, needs a lift.
We shall see.
I hope for its sake, the ending is something better than stagnation.

No other Marathon community can claim this.

Hey now, at f.b.o. we don't bicker, we debate!

a.g.m., on the other hand, had epic flamewars I shall never forget, like... um... well I can't remember any of them now, but damnit sonny when I was your age you couldn't set foot in a newsgroup without yer TOZT-proof jumpsuit on!

Kids these days with their newfangled phpBBs and their WebBBSs... phah! It's not a real newsgroup unless the articles use bangpaths!

And get off my lawn!

I still have all the maps from the old "The Compound of A.G.M." mapmaking contest on my HD...

Forrest, maybe you can help out with that article, too, when it appears on Traxus. You seem to have been a key player in some of those wicked flame wars. Also, are the maps any good (by the CLIQUE's standards)?

No idea, haven't looked at them in years. But I'll contribute what I can to the a.g.m. article on Traxus.

That sounds familiar, but I can't be sure until my computer gets back online next week.

Shadow?
TGI?
the xmas every year? (agreed, the first ones were just some polygons quickly attached to each other but they start getting some quality)
Others, which don't pop up in my mind at the moment? (well are there any?)
and thats only if youre talking about single player scenarios. There are probably as many mapmaking editors in the works

"A Gift of Mangos" was truly an excellent map something. I often miss playing it.

I will assent to that point, forgive me for my misunderstanding of technicalities of that.
Shadow, I have not even seen a page for, only (his name fails me)'s signature with it.
The xmas, well I really didnt count it only because, while yes, it is a work, its not so much a project, as just a formality.
and TGI, well yes, but as Ryoko has said....slowly
i.e. sometime soonâ„¢
So the point still stands, albeit without 1 leg

as for the rest of you, well, I shouldnt have expected less.. this is the internet.
This was simply my outcry/ response/ observation to the cancer killing the P'fhorums.
Go figure. it was meant as a call to action, not a call to the past.
*sigh* the good old days.

Xmas is only a formality? Fuck off, we worked hard on that.

I really hope you count my mappacks, yes, I enjoy mapping most of the time, but I do try to map not only for myself, but to give something to the community.

Also, I'm not quite sure about it at this point, but Victum is rolling along, however slowly. I still put in time mapping for it when I can, one level is completely done (with terminals as well, although they are still a bit rough), terminal PICT's, one level almost done, one level about half done, and a couple rough ideas for levels done. The first chapter shouldn't take much longer to finish, and we might release something then, although I can't really say.

You might want to talk to ahuxley. He can teach you much in the art of whining about people underproducing game content while the whiner doesn't doesn't do a damn thing to contribute.

@ L'howon
There are other projects unspoken of on the pfhorums that are being slowly put together by pfhorum members. These go slowly because people have lives and real obligations. People with real visual and audio art, programming, and writting talents would get a job that pays with those talents, not throw them at something that will never earn them money.
We don't worship a video game and spend all of our time trying to appease Aleph One.
But this doesn't matter because from what I can see you haven't been around this forum long enough to know what is going on. You just make an opinion from your few days of being here.
And btw I don't see you trying to make a scenario to stop this "cancer"
Its just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. Then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

Really? It seems as if you are implying that all people with said talents are ridiculously greedy and selfish. Personally, I consider money to be a necessary evil in this world of stupidity.
But this doesn't matter because from what I can see you haven't been around this forum long enough to know what is going on. You just make an opinion from your few days of being here.
Or perhaps the problems are so apparent that even the newcomers can see them. Beware the ad hominem fallacy, as my English teacher would say. Also, aren't people entitled to their own opinions?
And btw I don't see you trying to make a scenario to stop this "cancer"
To use your own logic, he's a new guy, what does he know?
Seriously, do we all need to play a part in what's happening to be considered important? Look at every major revolution in history: the most important people were the masses who usually just followed along with the change.

Not to pick on you Megabyte, you seem to be a really cool guy, but what's your problem? I mean, I never thought of you the kind of person to bicker like that.

$lave: Sounds cool, keep on keeping on.
We shall see.
I hope for its sake, the ending is something better than stagnation.

I don't think any of us here want that to happen. As long as two of us who feel that way exist, it won't end. I always thought the end of Marathon's popularity would come with some sort of bang, not this whimpering mess.

EDIT: Just read your sig. [MSmile] Makes a damn good point.

Oh, and im sorry for arguing on the pfhorums. Retarded me!

Forgive me my sarcasm, but nothing youve said so far makes any sense to me.

At any rate, this served its purpose well.

and as for
Fuck off
was that really neccesary? I never meant, or did insinuate that you did NOT work hard on the project, only that it seems more like something almost required, but never breaking a mold.
