oh. I misunderstood "Anyone can view the changelogs, but if you have not been given access to download these builds, please stick to the release builds." then.

Yeah, that's nonsense. Back in '05 we got these the whole summer, best summer ever.

I can't think of any good reason not to have nightly builds. Whatever happened to "open source", Treellama?

No problem. New features at our fingertips... This is how in-game chat and the metaserver were tested.

I think this is a great idea. If I had access to the nightly build, I could have gotten in on this game, but there aren't enough player colors on my build, so I would have just crashed with the current release. I heard it was really laggy, but still, it must have been pretty sweet.

The only downside I see is that it might generate a lot of Work-In-Progress bug reports, which now need to be handled where they weren't before. Also bug reports generated for older nightly builds that are fixed in the newest nightly build. Plus a lot of responses saying:"Fixed in the new Nightly". The release client versions seemed acceptable at tightening out the bugs before the release of stable versions. I feel this might slowdown production with needless paperwork.

Still, I want the option to be there. I know I love those Dolphin Emulator nightlies. :D

oh man, I love nightlies..I remember this time well.
If memory serves right, then the reason for their disappearence were the fact that ppl were using different nightlies on the meta and going out of sync as a result.

If everyone could just keep getting the newest builds, this could be pretty cool!

Maybe fortnightly instead of nightly? Still have something more current than the latest release, but mitigate some of the concerns (reported bugs that are already fixed, etc).

I would appreciate it. Then again, Treellama already knows this.

Maybe we'd finally figure out why my A1 gets dumber than a 13 year old nutmeg snorter whenever I try to play Survival.

No, it really sucks. I remember doing this. I missed so many games because I was a few days behind with my nightly. Do you really want to re-download A1 every time you play?

I think we need an Aleph One auto-updater because of this.

Not updating the data files, just the .exe's

You mean the runtime.
