If you want to play with your friends get a Wii.
shawn(at)fsu: My nephew wants to start doing game modding ...
hux: If he likes Halo, try modding for Marathon, the older Bungie fps game.
interkin3tic: Noooo!!! I did that in high school and look where I am now: SLASHDOT!!!

Yup, ummm sorta, if you count X360 Marathon: Durandal. But its one step closer to playing original games.

I've tried and failed. They are all about flawless graphics.
Its just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. Then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

I've tried. I had success with my brother, but he respects older games more than the new guys.
(Case in point: One of my friends was asking for violent/gory video games, I said, what about Soldier of Fortune II, and he was all like "That's old".)

As for my friends, I can't seem to convince them to due it, even when offering to download it, and put it on a disk/flash drive for them, and have it all setup.

When they ask me what "Frog Blast The Vent Core" means I see the opportunity to tell them about it. But when I start discussing it, all my friends become uninterested.

Pick a whole number between 7 and 819.

If it's an integer, then always. If it's not, then I failed to convince that person.
I am not allowed to log in unless I am logged in. WTF.

I tried to get my friend to play today. I got him as far as installing the game and joining a multiplayer match. After failing to grasp he could change the controls and *gasp* use a mouse, he stopped playing promptly. Another lost gamer to our circle.

I got one friend to download m1a1 and m2. He was interested in it enough to play through all of m1 and half of m2.

Yes, and now everyone in the school "hates" marathon just to spite me. :P
Despite that, I did get obbieGL and maybe a few others sometime in the future to come, and I also gave some kongregaters a news flash about marathon being open source and all.

Hey slave, remember that map you hosted awhile back with the messed up physics? It was JC's Knights of the _____ (Forget the last word, think it was "dark table" or something), and you changed the lighting and made weird invincible, invisible pfhor with the fucked up voices? Yeah, that was what made everybody "hate" marathon :P
They don't really hate it, though. 9/10ths of them haven't played it.

I actually started playing quite recently since my friend recommended it. I've tried to get other people to start playing, but so far, non eof them have been convinced. They're too much into graphics.

All of my friends can't figure out zip files. My girlfriend sent me a bunch of files she wanted on another computer, out of instinct I placed them into a .zip archive ...Yeah, that didn't work. So no, they know I play a weird game made by the people that also made halo for the 90's called 'Marathon' and that theres frog blast's the vent core's and crazed AI's along the way, but nothing else. It's really horrible to be the only person I know who knows how to fully use a computer.
