I'm currently developing a new scenario for M2 and Infinity. I've got a story down, and I am good at forge.

However, I want to implement Terminals into my scenario.

I've still got an old G3 iMac running 9.1 with Forge and Anvil. I've also got all the content from the Marathon Trilogy boxset. (The white disc with all the solo maps etc)

Can someone explain from SCRATCH how to create a terminal, save it and then use/merge it with Forge.

Thanks alot.

I use Hex! to write terminals. You can download Hex! here. From there just read the readmes and you should be fine.

You could also just use a text editor, all is covered in the infinity manual.

I've read Forge's and Hex's manuals, and still don't understand.

Can someone do a step by step in plain english?

In Forge I make a rectangle, make it a goal, and then add the computer terminal texture selecting a script?

I will make a tutorial for you.

First, open Hex!.

Go to file>new.
A white box should appear.
Now go to Edit>New Terminal.
Another window will open wit the name Terminal 0 (this is the main script you will select in forge.
Now go to Edit>new section
Pick whatever you want to have in your terminal etc.
Now save it in an empty folder.
Close Hex!!

Now open forge.

Make a new level, pick texture set etc.
make a map that looks like this
[attachment=3414:Picture_1.jpg]
The polys do not have to be set as goals at all, just keep them normal!

Now on the player's poly, make the floor height 0 and ceiling 1.
On the smaller poly, make the floor 0.4 WU and ceiling 0.9.
now go to special>pave level

Now go into visual mode, and where the hole in the wall is, put your terminal texture. Change the type to terminal with a script of 0.
Save this level in the same place as the terminal file you made earlier.
Make sure you Map is named L00.levelname and your terminal file T00.levelname .Now go into forge, and select file>merge levels.
Click on your map file, and forge will merge the map and terminal files together.
Now open your map in infinity, walk to the terminal and hit the action key. Voila! You have a fully working terminal!

Hope this helps!
Also, have you thought of uprgrading your OS?

I appreciate that so much man!

The OS system using 9.1 is an old Mac.

I'm on an iMac G5 powerhouse as I speak, but I use it for music production/djing.

Thanks again man. :)

Cool, well I'm also on a G3 myself, so I know it can be annoying not being able to run stuff but yeah, hope the tutorial is helpful.
